DRDO LRDE JRF ECE Recruitment 2026: Overview

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through its Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), is selecting Junior Research Fellows in Electronics and Communication Engineering for radar-related research in Bengaluru. LRDE develops radar and connected technologies for the defence services, so this fellowship places you inside a specialist research establishment rather than a general administrative office. The acceptable academic streams extend beyond a degree carrying only the exact ECE label; closely related electronics, telecommunication, computer and electrical-communication programmes can also fit when Electronics is the main discipline.

This is a research fellowship and not a regular DRDO appointment. It suits an early-career engineer who wants hands-on exposure to defence electronics, experimental systems and technical research under an established laboratory team. Your academic record and the relevance of your discipline will be checked closely before you can take part in the selection activity.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fellowship tenure: the initial engagement runs for two years and may be extended under the DRDO research-fellow scheme, up to a maximum overall period of four years. An extension is governed by the scheme and should not be treated as automatic.
• Employment status: the fellowship does not give you a right to permanent absorption in DRDO after the research period ends.
• Nationality: only Indian nationals can take part in this recruitment.
• Merit panel: LRDE may create a panel for available and anticipated openings. The panel can operate for one year, but inclusion does not guarantee a fellowship offer because an offer depends on an opening becoming available.
• Screening: incomplete forms can be rejected when eligibility is checked, and original records will be examined before the test or interview proceeds.
• Travel support: LRDE will not pay TA or DA for attending the selection activity or joining the fellowship.
• Campus security: electronic items cannot be carried inside the LRDE campus, so plan what you bring for the walk-in carefully.
• Final decision: LRDE can modify or cancel the drive, vary the fellowship requirement, or decide not to select anyone when no suitable candidate is found.

Reporting is at the LRDE Main Gate Reception between 08:30 and 09:30; late arrivals will not be admitted to the process. Bring a recent colour passport photograph on the form, and add a self-attested English transcript when any certificate is in another language.
