Post-wise Duties

Senior Physiotherapist

You will provide treatment following medical officers' advice and look after the physiotherapy unit. Material needs and equipment repairs must be brought to the Chief Medical Officer's attention.

Physiotherapist

You will provide physiotherapy care and report equipment needs to the senior physiotherapist or Chief Medical Officer. The role can include home visits when directed by the medical officers.

Optometrist

You will check vision, prescribe corrective lenses and screen for common eye conditions. Complex cases go to ophthalmologists, while optical stock and equipment also fall within this role.

OT Assistant

You will prepare the operating theatre, sterilise instruments and help the surgical team with tools and patient positioning. Basic monitoring and cleaning after operations are also part of the work.

Nurse

You will give medicines as prescribed, monitor patients and keep nursing records. You will also support doctors, explain care to families and help maintain ward hygiene and supplies.

ECG Technician

You will position electrodes, run ECG tests and provide clear recordings to the doctors. Equipment care and procedure records are part of the assignment.

Female Ward Orderly and Male Ward Orderly

You will help patients move around, manage personal hygiene needs and transfer them between wards and treatment areas. Changing linen, carrying samples or files, and distributing food and water are included.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial contract runs for 11 months from joining. Extension depends on your performance and the port's needs.
• Working arrangements: Hospital schedules apply, including extra hours when needed. You need permission before leaving headquarters.
• Time off: Weekly rest, closed holidays, national holidays and up to 12 days of casual leave a year are allowed. Unapproved absence leads to proportionate deductions.
• Leaving the role: Give three months' advance notice. Leaving without notice or accepted termination can mean losing pay due; the port can end the contract without notice for misconduct or other grounds.
• Medical facilities: In-house treatment is available for you where facilities exist, without external medical reimbursement. Family members living with you at the duty station can use outpatient services.
• Housing: Port-colony quarters may be offered subject to availability, agreement and applicable charges.
• Police checks: An adverse police report can lead to immediate termination.
• Exclusive engagement: You cannot take another job, assignment or business during this contract.
• Travel: Interview and initial joining expenses are not reimbursed.
• Conduct: Protect official information and port property. Disputes fall under the specified courts or forums at Ahmedabad or Gandhidham.
