DIAT SRF JRF PA Electronics Recruitment 2026: Overview
Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a deemed university under the Ministry of Defence's Department of Defence Research and Development, is seeking a scientist or engineer for its Department of Electronics Engineering in Pune. The selected person will work on the DRDO-sponsored research project titled FxxN, with the appointment level matched to the applicant's qualification and experience. The work sits at the intersection of radar, signal processing, antennas, embedded platforms and artificial intelligence, making it most relevant to candidates who want practical defence-research exposure. This is a short project engagement, not a route to a regular DIAT appointment.
Posts and Disciplines
- Senior Research Fellow: the experienced research level for candidates with the specified engineering or science background, qualifying credentials and relevant research, teaching or industry work.
- Junior Research Fellow: the fellowship level for first-division candidates who meet the prescribed NET/GATE route or hold the stated postgraduate engineering qualification.
- Project Associate: the project-support level for first-division engineering or science graduates whose profile suits the technical work but does not meet the fellowship route.
- Technical focus: radar and array signal processing, electronics, communication, RF systems, antennas, image processing and AI are central to the project.
- Useful tool exposure: experience with CST Studio or HFSS, MATLAB, VHDL, SDK and IP-core workflows, software-defined radio, FPGA platforms, Raspberry Pi and Python can strengthen your fit.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Single alternative appointment: The advertisement offers one project position to be filled at the SRF, JRF or Project Associate level according to the selected candidate's profile.
- Project tenure: The appointment lasts for the remaining project period or ends with the project, whichever comes first.
- Standing advertisement: DIAT reviews applications in recurring shortlisting rounds, and the opening may reduce or close after the project staff member is recruited.
- Interview format: The institute may hold the discussion in person or by video conference and will tell shortlisted candidates which mode applies.
- Age reference: The interview date is used to assess the applicable upper-age condition for the chosen appointment level.
- Research progression: Recruited fellows may register for a Ph.D. at DIAT through the proper channel under institute rules.
- Project travel: Technical needs may require the selected fellow to visit other establishments connected with the work.
- Facilities: The incumbent receives access to medical support limited to the institute's MI Room.
- No absorption: The project offer creates no right to permanent absorption at DIAT.
- Joining: The selected candidate is expected to join promptly after receiving the offer, and DIAT does not pay TA or DA for the interview.
Application Submission Notes
Send a signed brief bio-data, the prescribed application form and supporting records as one PDF file to the Principal Investigator at brazilraj.a@diat.ac.in. Use Application for SRF/JRF/PA as the email subject so the application reaches the correct project file.
