Delhi HC SPA and PA Recruitment 2026: Overview

High Court of Delhi is recruiting Senior Personal Assistants and Personal Assistants for its New Delhi establishment and will also prepare a panel through the same examination. These are Group B court-support roles built around accurate English shorthand, computer typing and confidential judicial work. The notice treats every examination component as compulsory, including for candidates claiming disability reservation, because the daily role depends on quick and accurate transcription.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Senior Personal Assistant: the higher-level role supports judges and senior court offices through fast dictation, transcription, document checking and coordination with the Registry. It carries the higher shorthand standard and may also cover a Private Secretary's work when directed.
  • Personal Assistant: this role handles court and chamber dictation, typed orders, case papers and administrative correspondence. The core duties are similar, with a separate shorthand standard and separate application.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Personal Assistant

You will take dictation for court proceedings, orders, judgments and official matters, then check each transcript before it reaches the judge. You may stand in for the Private Secretary, coordinate files with Registry branches and make sure signed judicial documents reach the authorised digital system promptly.

Personal Assistant

You will prepare accurate transcripts, organise judicial records and administrative files, and keep papers ready for court or chamber work. You will also help move records between the Court Master, Registry branches and the assigned judicial office without compromising confidentiality.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Confidentiality: drafts, judicial records, passwords and electronic files must be handled securely. Unauthorised access, copying or disclosure is incompatible with the role.
  • Work schedule: selected staff may need to work beyond normal office hours, on holidays or at a judge's residential office when judicial work requires it.
  • Reservation proof: Delhi OBC-NCL claims need a certificate valid for the Government of NCT of Delhi, along with the required current non-creamy-layer proof. Category and disability documents remain subject to verification.
  • PwBD conditions: the notice permits specified benchmark-disability categories but provides no scribe, compensatory time or exemption from typing or shorthand tests.
  • Provisional admission: the Court checks detailed eligibility and supporting records later in the process. Receiving an admit card does not confirm final eligibility.
  • Travel: no TA or DA is paid for attending tests or the interview.

Application Submission Notes

You need a separate online application for each post if you want to compete for both. The portal requires a recent passport photograph, a live photograph, thumb impression and signature in the specified image formats; the live and uploaded photographs must match. Keep the confirmation page for your records, and do not send a printout to the High Court. Government employees should inform their office and be ready with a no-objection certificate for the later scrutiny stage.

Responsibilities

  • Take and transcribe dictation for court proceedings, orders and judgments
  • Check typed judicial documents for accuracy, completeness and correct formatting
  • Upload authorised orders and judgments to designated court systems promptly
  • Keep briefs, case files, administrative records and confidential papers secure
  • Coordinate case records and official files with the Court Master and Registry branches
  • Assist the judge, Private Secretary and assigned office with secretarial work
  • Protect passwords, electronic records and sensitive judicial information
  • Work beyond normal office hours or on holidays when court duties require it
