CSIR NEERI Project Assistant II Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) is hiring a Project Assistant-II for an ecology project based at Nagpur. The study uses an eco-geospatial approach to identify vulnerable areas along the Narmada's riverbank zones, from Amarkantak to Narmadapuram in Madhya Pradesh. Your engagement belongs to project GAP-3059, so the work and its continuation are tied to this research assignment.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project appointment: The engagement ends with the project. It gives you no right to a regular job at CSIR or CSIR-NEERI, even if you complete the assignment successfully.
  • Work base: The notice names CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur as the posting location. The Narmada study area describes the project's geographic scope, while Nagpur remains the stated base for the appointment.
  • Funding and continuation: Your initial offer will cover the period for which project funds are available. A review committee can recommend an extension after assessing your performance, provided the project still needs the work and has funds.
  • Changes to tenure: The institute can extend or shorten the engagement according to the project's duration, requirements, your performance or your conduct. An extension is conditional, so you should not treat it as automatic.
  • Previous project service: Earlier work in CSIR laboratories counts towards the applicable overall project-service limit. The notice refers to CSIR rules that set a six- or seven-year ceiling, depending on the relevant provision.
  • Changing projects: If you already work on another project, its competent authority must accept your resignation before the new engagement can begin. Project staff do not receive an automatic upgrade within the same or a new project.
  • Leaving the assignment: The institute can end the engagement with one month's notice. If you leave, you must give one month's notice or pay one month's salary instead, unless the competent authority reduces or waives that requirement.
  • Confidentiality: You must sign an undertaking to protect project findings and related intellectual-property information. This condition applies to information you handle during the research assignment.
  • Accommodation and travel: You must arrange your own accommodation during the project. The institute will not pay travel allowance for attending the in-person interview.
  • Offer conditions: Join within the period stated in your offer letter after completing the required appointment formalities. The institute can cancel or withdraw an offer if it finds discrepancies in your application.
  • Waiting list: Further appointments may be made from the waiting list if funds become available. A place on that list does not itself guarantee an appointment.

The walk-in venue is CSIR-NEERI, Nehru Marg, Near Ajni Square, Nagpur 440020. Reporting runs from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, and the gate closes at 11:00 am.
