Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of engagement: This is a temporary project contract that ends with the project. Completing the assignment does not give you a claim to a regular position at CSIR, NEERI or another ministry.
• Posting: Your stated work base is CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur. The reservoir is the subject of the research; the notice separately identifies Nagpur as the place of posting and interview.
• Initial offer: The first appointment period depends on the funds available for the project. You should use the offer letter to understand the actual period covered by your engagement.
• Extension review: A review committee will assess your performance before recommending any extension. Continuation also depends on available funds and whether the project still needs the position.
• Changes during the project: The institute may extend or shorten the engagement based on project duration, requirements, performance or conduct. The appointment therefore carries no automatic promise of continued service.
• Overall service ceiling: Work already completed in CSIR laboratories or institutes counts towards the applicable project-staff tenure limit. The notice refers to a six- or seven-year ceiling under the relevant CSIR provisions.
• Moving from another project: If you hold an existing project appointment, its competent authority must accept your resignation before you begin this one. Moving projects does not automatically upgrade your position.
• Confidential information: You must sign an undertaking covering project findings and associated intellectual property. Treat this as a condition of joining the research team.
• Notice to leave: The institute can end the engagement by giving one month's notice. If you choose to leave, you must give one month's notice or pay one month's salary instead, unless the competent authority waives or shortens the requirement.
• Accommodation: You must make your own living arrangements during the appointment. The institute also does not reimburse travel for attending an offline interview.
• Joining and cancellation: You must join within the period in your offer letter after the required appointment formalities. Any discrepancy in your candidature can lead to cancellation or withdrawal of the offer.
• Waiting-list appointments: Additional engagement from the waiting list depends on funding. Being placed on the list does not guarantee that a further offer will be made.
