CFTRI Project Associate II Recruitment 2026: Overview
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) is recruiting Project Associate-II staff for GAP000680 at Mysuru. The project studies tank-based cultivation of the edible seaweeds Gayralia and Ulva, including elite seedling production and their use in functional foods. This is a re-advertisement for temporary project work, with separate roles for biological activity research and food-composition analysis.
Posts and Disciplines
- GAP680-001 — Biochemistry and Plant Science: laboratory work on natural bioactive compounds, cell-based assays, biomolecular analysis and animal studies conducted under institutional ethical guidelines.
- GAP680-002 — Food Science and Technology: nutritional profiling, food-safety evaluation, product development and analytical characterisation of compounds obtained from dried seaweed biomass.
Post-wise Duties
GAP680-001
You will extract and characterise bioactive compounds from food and natural resources, then test their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and other biological effects. The work can include mammalian cell culture, molecular methods and toxicology or efficacy studies using approved animal-study procedures.
GAP680-002
You will handle food composition and phytochemical analysis, including proximate composition, minerals, food-safety parameters and useful plant pigments. You will also prepare HPLC fingerprints, interpret analytical results and turn the findings into clear statistical reports for the project team.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: the engagement ends with the project or when the overall CSIR project-staff limit is reached, whichever comes first. The initial period may be extended or shortened according to funds, performance and institute needs.
- Overall service cap: previous project-staff service across all CSIR laboratories counts toward a maximum of 6 years; anyone who has already completed that period cannot apply.
- No regular appointment: project engagement gives no claim to a permanent CSIR-CFTRI or CSIR post and does not create a right to register for a higher degree.
- Current CSIR staff: an applicant already working on a CSIR or CSIR-CFTRI project needs an NOC from the present principal investigator. If selected, the person must provide a No Dues Certificate and leave the earlier project before joining.
- Declared results: only applicants who have already completed the essential qualification and received their result can apply; final-semester or result-awaited cases are excluded.
- Experience counting: the required experience is counted only after the minimum educational qualification was acquired.
- Interview travel: shortlisted applicants attend at their own cost because CFTRI will not pay TA or DA.
- Provisional positions: the institute may change the advertised strength or cancel the recruitment if project funds or requirements change.
