The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Anti-Corruption Branch, Dhanbad is hiring 1 Special Public Prosecutor on engagement basis to conduct trials in CBI cases at the Trial Courts of Dhanbad (Jharkhand). The Central Bureau of Investigation, Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Dhanbad has issued advertisement No. 1265/76/2/Estt/CBI/ACB/DHN dated 29 April 2026 for engagement of one Special Public Prosecutor (Special Counsel) to conduct trials in CBI cases pending in the Courts of Dhanbad. Only senior advocates with proven experience in criminal cases are encouraged to apply. Professional fees are governed by DoPT letter No. 225/19/2023-AVD-II dated 08.04.2024.

Who Can Apply?

• Educational Qualification: LLB (Bachelor of Laws)
• Bar Council Enrolment: Valid Enrolment Certificate as an Advocate with the Bar Council
• Experience: Minimum 10 years standing as an Advocate handling criminal matters at the Bar
• Track Record: Demonstrable experience in handling criminal cases — list of important cases handled to be submitted
• Consent: Unconditional willingness to work on the general terms and conditions approved by the Government of India
• Period of Engagement: Minimum 3 years

Professional Fees & Allowances

Fees are governed by the DoPT revised structure (08.04.2024) for Special Public Prosecutors conducting CBI trials at courts other than Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai:

• Effective Hearing in Trial Courts: Rs. 7,500 per case per day
• Non-effective Hearing: 1/3rd of effective hearing fee (when appearance happens but hearing does not take place beyond Counsel's control)
• Drafting Fee per Pleading: Rs. 2,000
• Conference Charges: Rs. 600 per hour per conference (max 5 conferences per case)
• Out-of-Pocket Expenses: Rs. 750 per case
• Out-of-Headquarters Daily Fee: Rs. 1,000 per day
• Travelling Allowance: As admissible to Group-A Gazetted Officers (air economy / AC-II tier rail)
• Hotel Stay (out of HQ): Up to Rs. 2,250 per day
• Local Conveyance (out of HQ): Up to Rs. 338 per day
• Clerkage: 10% of fees (max Rs. 1,800 per case / batch of cases)

Selection Process

Selection involves the following steps:

1. Online Application: Submit the prescribed proforma online with supporting documents
2. Shortlisting: Based on experience at the Bar, list of important criminal cases handled and CBI / Government cases experience
3. Interaction with Interaction Committee: Only shortlisted candidates will be called by CBI for interaction. You must bring all uploaded and supporting documents in original
4. Approval: Final engagement is subject to approval of the competent authority (Director CBI / DoPT) and concurrence from the Learned Attorney General
