The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, is looking to bring on board 2 Head Coaches for its Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) at Netaji Sports Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram. If you have elite-level coaching credentials in Cycling or Swimming, this is your chance to shape the future of competitive sports in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands with a monthly pay of up to Rs 1,50,000.

Key Highlights

• Purely contractual engagement under the Khelo India Scheme, initially for up to 4 years, subject to scheme continuation by the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of India
• You must hold a Diploma in Coaching from SAI/NIS or a recognized university and should have represented India at the Olympics, World Cup, or World Championship level
• A Certificate Course from the concerned National or International Federation is mandatory, along with at least 10 years of coaching experience
• Alternatively, coaches with experience training Senior/Junior Indian teams or recipients of Dronacharya/Arjuna/Dhyan Chand Awards who have produced international medalists are also eligible
• Government and PSU employees may apply on deputation as per DoPT rules
• Working knowledge of computers is essential for all candidates

Selection Process

The selection will happen in two key stages. First, applications will be shortlisted based on your qualifications and experience. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for an interview scored out of 30 marks, covering coaching aptitude, game knowledge, management skills, communication, general attitude, and basic computer knowledge. A Skill Test may also be conducted where applicable.

• Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to balance motivation with areas for improvement
• Assess individual strengths and weaknesses to design targeted development programs for trainees
• Communicate coaching instructions clearly using simple, accessible language for athletes of all levels
• Develop deep understanding of fitness, injury prevention, sports psychology, nutrition, and sports science
• Use IT-based tools and resources to monitor and measure athlete performance data
• Produce personalized training programs tailored to individual and group needs
• Maintain comprehensive records of trainee performance and progress over time
• Coordinate trainee attendance at competitions, meetings, and sports events
• Plan and execute activity programs for both groups and individual athletes
• Collaborate with other coaches for logistics, training sessions, and sports events coordination
• Seek and apply for sponsorship agreements by engaging all relevant stakeholders
• Identify and organize appropriate competitions for participants
• Plan work schedules in consultation with fellow coaching staff
• Uphold high legal and ethical standards, including child safeguarding and workplace safety
