AIIMS Raipur Psychiatry Project Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur (AIIMS Raipur) is hiring project staff for its Department of Psychiatry, which is working as the Regional Technical Agency (RTA) for Chhattisgarh in the National Survey on Extent and Pattern of Substance Use in India. The national survey is run with the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), and the Raipur team will carry out the household survey and respondent-driven sampling work inside the state. Posts and Disciplines

• Project Research Scientist II (Medical / Non-Medical): the senior role in the state team, working directly with the Regional Investigators. It is open on two tracks — a medical track for MBBS, BVSc or BDS holders and a non-medical track for postgraduates in a relevant subject.
• Project Technical Support-III / Project Technical Assistant: the field and coordination role, open to psychology, social work and statistics graduates, postgraduates in a relevant subject, and four-year engineering, IT or computer science graduates.
• Project Technical Support-I (Accountant): the finance and records role for the survey, based in the Department of Psychiatry office at AIIMS Raipur.

Post-wise Duties

Project Research Scientist II

You will help the Regional Investigators put the survey plan into action across Chhattisgarh, supervise and monitor the rest of the project team, and coordinate capacity-building work in the state. Field visits for monitoring and revalidating household survey and respondent-driven sampling data are part of the job. You will also compile progress reports for NDDTC, organise project meetings, and support state-level training for the survey field teams.

Project Technical Support-III / Project Technical Assistant

You will assist the Regional Investigators with day-to-day project work, supervise and manage data collection, and travel for field monitoring and revalidation visits. Planning and running the state-level training programmes for field teams, along with helping the Project Research Scientist on any related work, also sits with this post.

Project Technical Support-I (Accountant)

You will handle the financial management of project activities and keep the Statements of Expenditure (SoEs) up to date. The post also covers communication support with NDDTC and the data collection agency, project data entry, and the clerical and logistics work the survey needs.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement is for six months and can be extended by another six months, depending on your performance, project needs, funds and sanction from the competent authority.
• No AIIMS payroll: this is not employment on the AIIMS Raipur rolls. The contract ends on its own when the tenure finishes, and you get no right to claim permanent employment with AIIMS or ICMR, or continuation in any other project.
• Whole-time engagement: you cannot take any other paid assignment or run a private practice of any kind while the contract runs.
• Consolidated pay only: nothing beyond the fixed monthly amount is admissible, and the benefits available to regular AIIMS Raipur employees do not apply.
• NOC: if you already work in a government, semi-government or PSU organisation, carry a No Objection Certificate from your employer to the interview.
• Shortlisting: meeting the essential qualification alone does not get you a call — the department can shortlist on a written test, experience or qualification, and may hold a screening test if a large number of applications come in.
• No TA: travel money is not paid for attending the interview or for joining duty.
• Notice period: either side can end the contract with one month's notice, without giving a reason.
• Records: papers of candidates who are not selected are kept for six months and then destroyed.
