8th IR Bn Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

8th Indian Reserve Battalion, Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP), Chittoor is filling Record Assistant and operational support roles through an outsourcing arrangement for the erstwhile Chittoor district. The recruitment brings office, sanitation, kitchen, laundry and grooming work into one notification under the Andhra Pradesh Police Department. Each role has a different practical focus, so you should choose the post that matches your education, language ability and trade skill.

The workplace is a disciplined battalion environment rather than a typical district office. Some staff will support records and administration, while others keep the campus, kitchens, clothing services and grooming facilities running. Final merit is post-specific, and the department uses written, practical and interview assessments in different combinations according to the work.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Record Assistant: office-based record control, data handling, correspondence and retrieval work.
  • Office Subordinate: day-to-day support for filing, scanning, data entry, appointments and basic bookkeeping.
  • Sweeper: general cleaning, waste handling, restroom care, sanitation and cleaning-supply management.
  • Scavenger: sanitation work involving waste segregation, safe disposal, drains, washrooms and removal of litter.
  • Cook: a male-only role covering meal preparation, ration and inventory control, kitchen hygiene and field-kitchen equipment.
  • Dhobi: washing, drying, ironing and safe operation of laundry equipment.
  • Barber: haircuts and shaving for battalion personnel, tool custody, service records and salon hygiene.

Post-wise Duties

Record Assistant

You will organise files, handle data and correspondence, retrieve records when asked and protect official information and record security.

Office Subordinate

You will scan and file documents, maintain basic spreadsheets, arrange appointments and support routine office record work.

Sweeper and Scavenger

You will keep the premises clean, collect and separate waste, clean sanitation areas and follow safe hygiene and disposal practices.

Cook

You will prepare and serve meals, plan supplies, account for rations and keep cooking areas and equipment clean, safe and ready for use.

Dhobi

You will wash, dry, press and arrange uniforms or other clothing while handling fabrics, detergents and laundry equipment correctly.

Barber

You will provide standard haircuts and shaving, maintain daily service records and keep tools and the salon hygienic.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Outsourcing status: Appointment does not make you a member of the regular service or give you preference for another government post. The engagement may be ended for administrative reasons.
  • Local status: The recruitment jurisdiction is the erstwhile Chittoor district. Study records from Classes IV to X are used to decide whether you are treated as a local candidate.
  • Battalion availability: Staff must stay at the approved headquarters and be available on call during an emergency.
  • Movement: Cooks and barbers may move to other parts of Andhra Pradesh when battalion companies relocate.
  • Dress and discipline: You must follow the Commandant's dress directions and the disciplinary rules applicable to outsourced Andhra Pradesh government staff.
  • Benefits: Leave follows the applicable government orders for outsourced staff. Statutory EPF and ESI benefits apply where admissible.

Application Submission Notes

Use the prescribed form provided through the Chittoor district website. The filled form and supporting enclosures must reach The Commandant, 8th IR Battalion, APSP, C/o District Police Training Centre, Iruvaram Village and Post, Chittoor District 517128 by hand or post.

A working mobile number, email address and Aadhaar details are mandatory. Your study and category records affect local and reservation status, so send the applicable proof with the form. An application missing a required enclosure can be rejected without further correspondence.
