The Women, Child, Disabled and Senior Citizens Welfare Department in Karimnagar district, Telangana is hiring 60 Anganwadi Teachers (AWT) to run anganwadi centres across the district. The Telangana Women Development, Child Welfare, Disabled and Senior Citizens Welfare Department has issued Notification No. 671/1124/2026-27 (dated 31 July 2026) to fill 60 Anganwadi Teacher posts under the ICDS projects of Gangadhara, Huzurabad, Karimnagar Rural and Karimnagar Urban in Karimnagar district. Only women candidates can apply for these posts, and the best part is there is no written exam — selection is purely based on your Intermediate marks and a short interview. Anganwadi Teachers play a key role in the government's Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, running pre-school education and nutrition programs for young children in their own community.

Anganwadi centres are the backbone of India's Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme, which has been running since 1975 to improve nutrition, health and early learning for children under six years and for pregnant and nursing mothers. As an Anganwadi Teacher, you become the primary caregiver-educator at your assigned centre, working closely with the Anganwadi Helper, the local ANM (health worker), and the CDPO's office to deliver these welfare schemes on the ground.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed Intermediate (12th class) or an equivalent qualification.
• Gender: Only women candidates are eligible to apply for the Anganwadi Teacher post.
• Domicile: You must be a permanent local resident of the specific ward/division (in urban areas) or the gram panchayat (in rural areas) covered by the anganwadi centre you are applying for.

Note: For posts reserved under the SC/ST sub-plan, only candidates belonging to habitations or villages within the same gram panchayat are eligible to apply for that particular anganwadi centre.

You do not need a B.Ed, teaching diploma, or any other professional teaching qualification for this post — Intermediate (12th class) pass is the only academic requirement mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test for the Anganwadi Teacher post. Your selection depends entirely on a 100-mark merit calculation:

1. Intermediate Marks (70 marks): Your merit score is calculated from the marks you scored in Intermediate/12th class.
2. Special Category Weightage (up to 20 marks): Widows get 5 extra marks, orphans get 10 extra marks, and persons with disabilities get 5 extra marks.
3. Interview (10 marks): The District Selection Committee, Karimnagar conducts a short interview before the final merit list is prepared.

The candidate with the highest combined score in each category for a given anganwadi centre gets selected. This merit-based approach gives a fair chance to candidates with strong academic performance and genuine social need — such as widowhood, orphanhood or disability — without requiring you to prepare for a competitive written test. The District Collector/Chairman, Karimnagar has full authority to cancel or amend this recruitment at any stage.

• Run daily pre-school activities and learning sessions for children aged 3 to 6 years
• Track the height, weight and nutrition status of children and pregnant or lactating women at the centre
• Maintain attendance registers and other anganwadi records accurately
• Distribute supplementary nutrition to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers
• Coordinate with ANMs and health workers for immunization and health check-up camps
• Conduct home visits to spread awareness about health, hygiene and nutrition
• Report monthly progress and attendance data to the CDPO/supervisor of the ICDS project
