The Public Service Commission, West Bengal (WBPSC) has released Advertisement No. 13/2024 (detailed) for the Miscellaneous Services Recruitment Examination, 2024. Recruitment will be made to 19 different posts under the Government of West Bengal, ranging from Assistant Child Development Project Officer to Revenue Inspector, Auditor, Disaster Management Officer and more. The exact number of vacancies will be announced later. All appointments will initially be made on a temporary basis.

Pay Level 9 Posts (Rs. 28,900 - 74,500):

• Posts in West Bengal Subordinate Labour Service
• Auditor of Co-operative Societies
• Assistant Auditor, Board of Revenue
• Extension Officer, Mass Education Extension
• Lady Extension Officer, Mass Education Extension (women only)
• Assistant Controller of Correctional Services
• Investigating Inspector
• Revenue Inspector

Men are not eligible for the post of Lady Extension Officer, Mass Education Extension. The number of vacancies will be announced later.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A degree from a recognised University or its equivalent (any discipline).
• Language: You must be able to read, write and speak Bengali. (Not required for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali, as per Finance Department notification dated 02.03.2016.)
• Nationality: Indian citizen (or such other nationals as declared eligible by the Government of India).
• Health: Good health and character suitable for appointment to Government service.
• Knowledge of Bengali will be tested at the Personality Test for candidates whose mother tongue is other than Bengali/Nepali.

Age Limit

• You should be between 20 and 39 years old as on 01 January 2024 (born not earlier than 02.01.1985 and not later than 01.01.2004).
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates of West Bengal; 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of West Bengal.
• PwBD: Upper age limit relaxable up to 45 years.
• Age as recorded only in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate will be accepted.
• No age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates of other States — they are treated as General candidates.

Salary

• Pay Level 10 (Posts 1-11): Rs. 32,100 - 82,900 per month as per ROPA 2019
• Pay Level 9 (Posts 12-19): Rs. 28,900 - 74,500 per month as per ROPA 2019
• Plus DA, HRA, medical allowance and other admissible allowances as per Government of West Bengal rules

Application Fee

• General / OBC / Other categories: Rs. 160 (plus service charges)
• SC / ST candidates of West Bengal: No fee
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (40% and above): No fee
• Payment Mode: Online only
• No fee exemption for SC/ST candidates of other States. Fee is non-refundable.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in three successive stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type / MCQ): Screening test with negative marking for each wrong answer. Marks not counted for final selection.
2. Final Examination (Conventional Type - Written): Held at Kolkata for shortlisted candidates from the Preliminary Exam.
3. Personality Test: Held at the WBPSC office in Kolkata. Bengali language ability will be tested here for non-Bengali/Nepali mother-tongue candidates.

Qualifying Marks (Aggregate):

• UR / EWS: 40%
• OBC (A & B): 38%
• SC: 35%
• ST: 30%
• PwBD: 30%
• Meritorious Sports Person: 40%

The Final Merit List will be prepared based on marks in the Final Examination + Personality Test.

4. Upload your photograph, signature and caste/category certificates (in PDF, max 100 KB).
5. Pay the application fee online.
6. Submit the form and take a printout for your records.
7. Submission of more than one application by the same candidate is strictly forbidden.
8. Edit Window: 22 May 2026 to 28 May 2026 (3:00 PM) — you can edit some fields once during this period.

• Handle field implementation of welfare, child development or revenue programmes in the assigned block / district
• Manage inspections, audits or surveys related to your post (e.g. Revenue Inspector, Auditor, Inspector of Agricultural Income Tax)
• Maintain records, reports and case files as per government procedures
• Coordinate with State Government departments, district administration and panchayats
• Implement schemes in correctional services, disaster management or backward classes welfare based on the post
• Prepare progress reports and submit them to senior officers regularly
• Conduct fieldwork in blocks, municipalities and districts of West Bengal
• Follow all West Bengal Government rules, conduct guidelines and service regulations
