Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released Advertisement No. 19/2026-27 for 2 Deputy Executive Engineer (Mechanical), Class-2 posts in the Gujarat Maritime Board service. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical) or Bachelor's degree in Technology (Mechanical) from any university established under the Central or State Act in India, or any UGC-recognised institution.
• Computer Knowledge: You must have basic knowledge of computer application as per Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
• Language: You must have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Experience: Not required.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 20 years (on the last date of application)
• Maximum age: 35 years (on the last date of application)
• Age Relaxation:
• SC/ST/SEBC/EWS of Gujarat Origin: 5 years (max up to 45 years)
• Women candidates (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS of Gujarat Origin): 10 years (max up to 45 years)
• Women candidates (Un-reserved of Gujarat Origin): 5 years (max up to 45 years)
• Ex-Servicemen (including ECO/SCO): Length of military service + 3 years
• Persons with Disability: 10 years (max up to 45 years)
• Note: If reserved-category candidates apply for unreserved posts, they will not get any age relaxation.

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 53,100 to Rs. 1,67,800 per month (Pay Matrix Level-09, 7th CPC)
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Gujarat Maritime Board rules.
• Note: Selected candidates will be considered employees of the Gujarat Maritime Board (not the Government of Gujarat).

Selection Process

Selection will be done in two stages:

1. Preliminary Test (Objective, OMR-based): Total 300 marks (300 questions) — Part-A: General Studies (100 questions, 100 marks) + Part-B: Concerned Subject - Mechanical Engineering (200 questions, 200 marks). Time duration 180 minutes (3 hours). Minimum 15% marks required to be considered for interview. Exam venue: Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad. Exam medium: Gujarati (unless commission decides otherwise).
2. Interview: 100 marks. Candidates called at the ratio of 16 per 2 vacancies.

Final Merit: 50% weightage of Preliminary Test marks + 50% weightage of Interview marks.

• Plan, design, and supervise mechanical engineering projects at Gujarat Maritime Board ports and facilities
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, cranes, and port machinery
• Prepare technical specifications, cost estimates, and tender documents for mechanical works
• Monitor quality of mechanical works carried out by contractors and vendors
• Manage workshop operations and ensure efficient use of mechanical resources
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and operations teams for integrated port projects
• Prepare progress reports and ensure compliance with safety and statutory standards
