V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority is a Major Port under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, located at Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) in Tamil Nadu. It has invited applications to fill 1 post of Pilot (Class-I). A Pilot boards ships and guides them safely in and out of the harbour, so this is a senior marine officer role meant for experienced Master Mariners. This is a highly specialised maritime post with an attractive pay scale and marine allowances. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must hold a Certificate of Competency as Master of Foreign Going Ship issued by the Ministry of Shipping / Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, or an equivalent recognised certificate.
• Experience: At least one year of post-qualification experience as Master or Chief Officer of a foreign going ship.

Age Limit

• The maximum age is 40 years.
• Age relaxation: SC/ST candidates get age relaxation as per government rules.

Salary

• The selected candidate will get a pay scale of Rs. 70,000 – Rs. 2,00,000 per month (Class-I officer scale).
• You will also get DA, HRA, Marine Allowance, medical benefits and NPS as per port rules.

Selection Process

Selection is based on:

1. Shortlisting of eligible applications.
2. Interview / Personal Interaction for shortlisted candidates.
3. Document Verification and Medical Fitness check — a Pilot must be medically fit to board ships at sea using pilot ladders.
