Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is hiring experienced professionals for the organisation implementing Chennai's Metro Rail Project. This joint venture of the Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu brings together engineering, project information, transport planning and finance roles in the same notice. You can be considered under the applicable contract or government-organisation deputation route, with separate employment-background conditions for government, Metro or public-sector, and private-sector applicants.

Posts and Disciplines

• Joint General Manager, Project Management Information System: A role linking project information, progress monitoring and coordination across disciplines.
• Joint General Manager, Rolling Stock: A role focused on electric trains, their supporting depot equipment and related contracts.
• Deputy General Manager or Manager, Finance and Accounts: Alternative levels for the finance opening, covering both project and operational accounts.
• Manager and Assistant Manager, Design: Civil design roles covering Metro structures, stations and other infrastructure.
• Assistant Manager, Transport Planning: A role connecting mass-transit planning with the wider city transport system.

Post-wise Duties

Joint General Manager, Project Management Information System

You will work with the project information platform, project plans, progress reports and financial monitoring. The work also covers risks, data and documents, with coordination across project stakeholders.

Joint General Manager, Rolling Stock

Your work concerns electric rolling stock, from procurement and design review to testing, commissioning and maintenance. Depot machinery, contract management and statutory clearances are also part of the scope described in the notice.

Deputy General Manager or Manager, Finance and Accounts

You will handle payments, budgets, financial statements and management reports. The finance work also covers audit coordination, inventories, internal controls, tender review and contact with financial institutions and government bodies.

Manager and Assistant Manager, Design

Your design work covers viaducts, bridges, tunnels, Metro structures and stations, along with multi-storey buildings. The roles use design and analysis software and the relevant Indian and European engineering codes.

Assistant Manager, Transport Planning

You will work on mass-transit planning and integration, transport studies and coordination with public agencies. The scope includes how different transport modes connect and how planning decisions serve a city's public transport network.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract tenure: The initial contract lasts 2 years. Extension depends on CMRL's needs, your performance and mutual agreement.
• Deputation tenure: The initial term is 3 years and may extend to 5 years.
• Appointment checks: Appointment remains subject to CMRL being satisfied with your character and background. Meeting the minimum conditions does not guarantee an interview.
• Travel costs: CMRL does not pay travel or daily expenses for the interview. You also meet the travel costs for the medical examination.
• Recruitment discretion: CMRL may change, withdraw or leave positions unfilled, or appoint at a lower level. Attempts to influence the process can disqualify you from this and future CMRL recruitment.
