Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has released Vacancy Notification Ref. Who Can Apply?

Assistant General Manager (Engineering)

• Qualification: You need a degree in Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Production Engineering or Marine Engineering with at least 60% marks from a recognised university.
• Experience: You need at least 15 years post-qualification managerial experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore fabrication, petrochemical, marine engineering, government or semi-government companies.
• Work area: Your experience should be in hull fabrication, structural outfitting, machinery, piping, painting or accommodation outfitting.
• Desirable: Team lead or section head experience of 5 years in a shipbuilding or offshore engineering project is preferred.

Deputy Manager (Mechanical)

• Degree route: You need a degree in Mechanical, Marine or Naval Architecture Engineering with at least 7 years post-qualification managerial experience.
• Diploma route: You need a minimum 3-year diploma in Mechanical, Marine or Shipbuilding Engineering with at least 10 years post-qualification managerial experience.
• Experience area: Experience should be in hull fabrication, structural outfitting, machinery, piping, painting, accommodation outfitting or planning in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore fabrication, petrochemical or marine engineering organisations.
• Computer skills: Knowledge of AutoCAD, SAP, MS Project and MS Office is desirable for both posts.

Age Limit

• Assistant General Manager: Maximum age is 50 years as on 30 June 2026.
• Deputy Manager: Maximum age is 35 years as on 30 June 2026.
• OBC (NCL): Relaxation of 3 years for posts reserved for OBC.
• SC: Relaxation of 5 years for posts reserved for SC.
• Ex-servicemen: Relaxation of 5 years for AGM and 10 years for Deputy Manager, subject to the maximum relaxed age limits stated in the notice.

Salary

• Assistant General Manager (E5): Pay scale is Rs. 80,000-3%-2,20,000. Current monthly pay is about Rs. 1,67,280.
• Deputy Manager (E2): Pay scale is Rs. 50,000-3%-1,60,000. Current monthly pay is about Rs. 1,04,550.
• Benefits: CPF, National Pension System, gratuity, accident insurance, medical reimbursement under contributory medical insurance, leave encashment and performance-related payment are mentioned in the notice.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection process carries 100 marks. UCSL may conduct it at Malpe, Kochi, through electronic media, or at another location decided by the company.

1. Shortlisting: UCSL will scrutinise online applications and supporting documents to confirm qualification, experience and job requirements.
2. Work Experience Assessment: Relevant work experience carries 40 marks.
3. PowerPoint Presentation: Shortlisted applicants have to present their work experience for not more than 10 minutes. This carries 30 marks.
4. Group Discussion: This carries 10 marks.
5. Personal Interview: This carries 20 marks.
6. Document and Medical Verification: Appointment is subject to original certificate verification, character and antecedent verification, caste certificate verification where applicable, and medical fitness.
