Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has released notification (Advt. No. 03/2026) for recruitment to the temporary posts of Junior Engineer, Grade-I & Grade-II, Electrical Engineering under the Rural Development Department, Government of Tripura, through the Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2022. Selection is through a Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Interview. Both Degree (B.E./B.Tech) and Diploma holders in Electrical Engineering can apply.

• Reservation: 1 post reserved for PH (Blindness/Low Vision)

Who Can Apply?

For Grade-I (Degree) — Pay Rs. 47,600/month

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised University/Institution
• Age: 18 to 40 years as on 12 June 2026

For Grade-II (Diploma) — Pay Rs. 34,700/month

• Diploma in Electrical Branch of Engineering or equivalent academic qualification from a recognised University/Institution
• Age: up to 40 years as on 12 June 2026

Common Requirements (Both Grades)

• Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRTC) is mandatory
• Desirable: Knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok

Age Limit

• Grade-I (Degree): 18 to 40 years as on 12 June 2026
• Grade-II (Diploma): Up to 40 years as on 12 June 2026
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC / ST / PH candidates and Government servants
• Note: Government servants belonging to SC/ST/PH category will not get this relaxation over and above the general 5-year relaxation.

Salary

• Grade-I (Degree, Group-B Gazetted): Rs. 47,600 per month — Tripura Pay Matrix 2018, Cell-1 of Level-13
• Grade-II (Diploma, Group-C Non-Gazetted): Rs. 34,700 per month — Tripura Pay Matrix 2018, Cell-1 of Level-10
• Plus other admissible allowances as per Tripura Government rules

Application Fee

• Group-B Gazetted (Grade-I): Rs. 350 for General; Rs. 250 for SC/ST/BPL/PH
• Group-C Non-Gazetted (Grade-II): Rs. 200 for General; Rs. 150 for SC/ST/BPL/PH
• Recruitment fee is non-refundable. Incomplete applications without the requisite fee will be rejected.

Selection Process

Selection is through three stages as per the Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2022:

1. Preliminary Examination (100 marks, 2 hours, MCQ): Screening test only. Subjects — English Composition (10 marks), General Knowledge & Current Events (10 marks), Engineering Aptitude in related branch (80 marks). Negative marking as per TPSC norms. Qualifying marks: 40% (UR) / 30% (Reserved). Maximum 5 times the vacancies (category-wise) shortlisted for the Main Exam.
2. Main (Written) Examination (500 marks): General Studies (100 marks, 1 hour) + Two Engineering papers (200 marks each, 3 hours). Minimum cut-off: 40% (UR) / 30% (Reserved). Candidates called at 1:5 ratio.
3. Interview cum Personality Test (50 marks): Called at 1:5 (for 1 vacancy: 5 candidates), 1:8 (for 2 vacancies: 8 candidates), or 1:3 ratio (for 3+ vacancies). Tests intellectual ability, current affairs awareness, leadership, and moral integrity.

Final Merit: Main Examination marks (500) + Interview marks (50). Tie-breaker: seniority of age, then percentage in minimum educational qualification.

3. You will receive a User ID on your registered mobile number and email
4. Login with the OTPR User ID and apply for the Junior Engineer (Electrical) post under Advt. No. 03/2026
5. Fill in the online application form carefully
6. Pay the recruitment fee online
7. Submit the application before 12 June 2026 (5:30 PM)
8. Avoid multiple applications — only the latest Receipt Number application will be entertained

No hard copy applications will be accepted. After publication of preliminary results, successful candidates must submit self-attested copies of certificates to TPSC Reception Counter or online within the specified time.

• Supervise electrical works in rural development projects across Tripura
• Prepare estimates, drawings, and tender documents for electrical installations
• Inspect ongoing rural infrastructure works and check material quality
• Maintain measurement books and prepare contractor running bills
• Coordinate with Block Development Officers and Panchayat staff on rural projects
• Follow electrical safety codes and IS standards on all works
• Submit progress reports to senior officers in the Rural Development Department
• Carry out testing and commissioning of electrical equipment installed under rural schemes
