TMC Ad-hoc Medical Officer (Haemato-pathology) Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, is hiring an Ad-hoc Medical Officer in Haemato-pathology for its Varanasi unit, the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre (MPMMCC) and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (HBCH) on the BHU campus. The doctor who joins will work in the haemato-pathology laboratory, where blood cancers are diagnosed through bone marrow morphology, flow cytometry and molecular tests. This is an ad-hoc walk-in appointment that covers the work until a regular post is filled, so there is no written test.

Both DM (Hematopathology) holders and MD/DNB (Pathology) holders can come for the interview, but the experience rule is different for each: a DM holder needs no experience, while an MD/DNB holder needs senior-resident experience in a haemato-pathology lab. Your pay is fixed on a grid that depends on your degree and your years of experience, so a DM holder starts higher than an MD/DNB holder with the same experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The appointment runs for six months at first, or until a regular post is filled, whichever comes earlier.
• Lower grade option: MD/DNB holders with less than the required experience may be considered for a lower grade if no suitably experienced candidate is found.
• Academic designation: After joining, you can be given an academic title such as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor as per National Medical Commission norms.
• Added advantage: Hands-on work in minimal residual disease (MRD) detection and molecular methods like next-generation sequencing will count in your favour.
• Degree recognition: Your post-graduate degree must be recognised by the National Medical Commission.
