TIFR Faculty Positions Recruitment 2026

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), an autonomous research institution under the Department of Atomic Energy and a Deemed University, is looking for talented researchers to join its faculty across 15 Departments, Schools, and Centres spread across Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. This is a rolling recruitment for the evaluation period January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026. Outstanding candidates with fresh Ph.D. degrees may also apply for entry-level tenure-track Reader positions. Experienced researchers with proven leadership can be considered for tenured Associate Professor or Professor positions.

Who Can Apply?

For Reader (Entry-Level, Tenure-Track):

• Qualification: You need a Ph.D. from a recognised institution with an excellent academic record and appropriate postdoctoral research experience.
• Your research work should be novel and impactful as per international standards.
• In exceptional cases, candidates with a fresh Ph.D. may also be considered.

For Associate Professor / Professor (Tenured):

• Qualification: You need a Ph.D. from a recognised institution with proven research leadership and higher experience.
• You should have an outstanding research career as per international standards.

Salary

• Entry-level faculty (Reader): Pay Level 12, Basic Pay of Rs. 78,800 per month (total monthly salary approximately Rs. 1,00,600).
• You will also get HRA at 24% of basic pay if Institute housing is not available.
• Health care benefits are provided by the Institute.
• Candidates with appropriate experience will be considered for higher pay levels (Associate Professor or Professor scale).

Selection Process

Selection will be based on your research profile and academic record:

1. Application Review: Your CV, research plan, and references will be evaluated by the concerned Department or Centre. The review process begins as soon as your application is received and continues until a final decision is taken.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. The qualifications prescribed are minimum requirements and do not automatically make you eligible for an interview.
