Thoothukudi District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) is selecting 30 to 40 Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) to work in police stations across Thoothukudi district in Tamil Nadu. If you have passed Plus Two (12th standard) and are between 25 and 65 years old, you can apply. The last date to submit your application is 6 May 2026 by 5:30 PM. You will receive an honorarium of Rs. 1,000 per visit (up to Rs. 5,000 per case). This is a voluntary role — there is no fixed monthly salary.
Thoothukudi DLSA Para Legal Volunteer Recruitment 2026 — 30-40 Posts
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Thoothukudi, has issued this notification following a Supreme Court directive in Bachpan Bachao Andolan vs Union of India and Tamil Nadu Government G.O. (Ms) No. 130, dated 12.03.2026. Selected PLVs will be placed in police stations across 6 talukas: Kovilpatti, Srivaikundam, Tiruchendur, Sathankulam, Vilathikulam, and Ottapidaram. Their main role is to help locate missing children, support child victims of crime, and facilitate rehabilitation. Graduates with Social Work, Psychology, or related field qualifications get selection priority. Persons connected to any political party are not eligible to apply.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- Minimum: Passed Plus Two (12th Class / HSC) from a recognised Board
- Preferred: Graduate degree in Social Work (B.S.W / M.S.W), Psychology, or related fields — these candidates get selection priority

- You must be a resident of Thoothukudi District
- You must not be affiliated with any political party
- You must have no pending criminal cases in police records
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 25 years
- Maximum age: 65 years
Honorarium (Not a Salary)
- You will receive Rs. 1,000 per visit to the police station as honorarium
- Maximum honorarium allowed per case: Rs. 5,000
- Honorarium is paid based on attendance certificates from the Station House Officer (SHO) and monthly reports submitted to the DLSA Secretary
- This is a voluntary role — there is no fixed monthly salary, no consolidated pay, and no daily wages

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is based on the following stages:
- Application Screening: Applications received are reviewed for eligibility and completeness by the DLSA
- Interview: Suitable candidates are called for a personal interview. Interview schedule and results will be published on thoothukudi.dcourts.gov.in
Selected PLVs are initially empanelled for one year. The empanelment may be extended based on performance as reviewed by the DLSA Chairman.

Responsibilities
- Assist police station officials when cases of missing children or offences against children are registered
- Provide emotional support and legal information to families of missing or affected children
- Coordinate with the Station House Officer (SHO) to arrange help for victims and complainants
- Help rescued or affected children access government welfare schemes and rehabilitation services
- Report new case registrations at the police station to DLSA or TLSC without delay
- Maintain proper attendance records at police stations and submit monthly reports to the DLSA Secretary
- Work closely with the DLSA and Taluk Legal Services Committee (TLSC) to follow up on pending cases

Community service orientation, communication skills in Tamil, willingness to work with children and police
