Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) Assistant Director (IPS) Deputation 2026 - 5 Posts
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is the premier training institution for IPS (Indian Police Service) probationers in Hyderabad. Every officer who joins the IPS goes through their foundational training at this Academy, which makes the faculty here directly responsible for shaping the outlook, discipline and professional competence of India's future police leadership. The Academy has issued a circular calling for nominations to fill 5 Assistant Director posts in its faculty on a central deputation basis — 3 posts are in Pay Level-12 and 2 posts are in Pay Level-13 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
This is not an open recruitment for the general public — it is a call addressed to the Chief Secretaries of all States/UTs, the Director Generals of CAPFs and CPOs, and the Directors General/Inspector Generals of Police, asking them to identify and nominate suitable, willing IPS officers from their cadre. If you are a serving IPS officer interested in shaping the next generation of police leaders, this is your route into training and mentorship work at India's top police academy. A stint as faculty here is widely regarded as a valuable career milestone, since it combines classroom teaching, field training coordination, and close mentorship of young officer trainees during their most formative professional years.
Vacancy Breakdown
- Assistant Director (Pay Level-12): 3 posts
- Assistant Director (Pay Level-13): 2 posts
Who Can Apply?
- Eligibility: You must be a serving IPS officer with sufficient field experience and an impeccable career record. The Academy is selective because faculty members are directly responsible for shaping the knowledge, skills, and professional attitude of young IPS Officer Trainees during their foundational training.
- Screening: Every nomination goes through a thorough scrutiny process at SVPNPA before being sent forward — only officers who match the Academy's teaching and mentorship requirements move ahead.
- Nomination: Your State Government, CAPF, CPO, or parent organisation must forward your nomination directly to SVPNPA, along with your bio-data clearly showing your current pay scale.
- Additional Papers: Your willingness application and vigilance clearance status must be enclosed with the nomination — SVPNPA will not consider incomplete nomination packages.
- Basis: Final selection and appointment happens on a central deputation basis, approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), after SVPNPA processes your proposal.
Salary
- Selected officers will get a salary of Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month, depending on whether you are placed in Pay Level-12 or Pay Level-13 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
- Pay Level-12 covers the 3 posts with a starting basic pay of Rs. 78,800 per month, while Pay Level-13 covers the 2 posts with a higher pay band that can go up to Rs. 2,09,200 per month.
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per central government rules applicable to IPS officers on deputation, on top of your basic pay.
- Your actual placement in Level-12 or Level-13 depends on your current seniority and rank at the time your nomination is approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Selection Process
Selection follows a structured nomination and scrutiny process rather than a written exam or interview:
- Nomination: Your State Government, CAPF, CPO, or parent organisation identifies you as a suitable and willing officer and puts your name forward to SVPNPA.
- Scrutiny: The Academy carefully reviews your field experience, career record, and vigilance status to check that you match the requirements of a training faculty role.
- Processing with MHA: SVPNPA forwards the shortlisted proposal, along with your bio-data and pay details, to the Ministry of Home Affairs for approval of your central deputation.
- Deputation Order: Once the Ministry of Home Affairs approves your nomination, you will be issued a formal deputation order to join the Academy as faculty.
Because faculty positions at SVPNPA carry significant responsibility for training future IPS officers, the Academy applies a careful, merit-based scrutiny process rather than relying on a purely administrative sign-off.
