SSC Sub Inspector Recruitment 2026: Overview
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is recruiting Sub-Inspectors for Delhi Police and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The notice brings executive policing, general duty and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) fire stream into a shared recruitment exercise. These are regular government appointments, with confirmation linked to completing probation and the training set by your appointing authority.
Posts and Disciplines
- Sub-Inspector Executive, Delhi Police: This stream covers male and female appointments in Delhi Police. The organisation classifies these posts as Group C, and its departmental applicants can also compete for open male posts under the conditions in the notice.
- Sub-Inspector General Duty, CAPFs: This stream covers the Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, CISF and Sashastra Seema Bal. The appointments are Group B, non-gazetted and non-ministerial, with service liability across India.
- Sub-Inspector Fire, CISF: This is the separate male fire-service stream within the same notice. It also falls under Group B, non-gazetted and non-ministerial service. Keep this stream distinct when you compare your post preferences.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Posting choice: All posts except Delhi Police carry service liability anywhere in India. SSC does not allocate this recruitment by your preferred state, region, zone or city, so your examination centre is not a promise of a nearby posting.
- Probation: You will serve a two-year probation period and complete the training or examinations set by the controlling authority. Permanent confirmation follows successful completion and the authority finding you suitable.
- Training commitment: The training curriculum includes obstacle events that selected Sub-Inspectors must pass. Failure can affect whether you remain in the force, even after clearing the recruitment exercise.
- Post preferences: Choose your order carefully. Once SSC gives you your first available preference, it will not move you to another post because you cannot meet a condition attached to the allotted post.
- Reservation administration: The recruiting departments decide their reservation rosters and report their requirements to SSC. The commission conducts recruitment against those reported requirements, while the departments remain responsible for implementing reservation.
- Delhi OBC distinction: A community included in Delhi's OBC list but absent from the central list receives OBC treatment only for Delhi Police in this recruitment. Your treatment for the other posts follows the notice's unreserved or EWS provisions, as applicable.
- Provisional candidature: Being admitted to the examination does not guarantee appointment. The appointing organisation can cancel candidature when your claims do not meet the recruitment conditions, including after the written examination.
Application Submission Notes
One-Time Registration (OTR) must be on SSC's current portal. An OTR created on the old SSC website does not work for this application; an existing OTR on the current portal remains valid. The notice also allows applications through the mySSC mobile application.
