South Eastern Railway (SER), Kharagpur Division has invited applications for the engagement of 8 Contract Medical Practitioners (CMPs) on a full-time contract basis. The recruitment includes 2 Specialist posts and 6 GDMO posts under Employment Notice No. 01/2026(Med.) CMP-2026/KGP. Who Can Apply?

For Specialist Posts (Physician and Surgeon):

  • Qualification: You need an MBBS degree along with a Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in the relevant speciality field.
  • Physician: MD/DNB/Diploma in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care.
  • Surgeon: PG Degree or Diploma in Surgery.

For GDMO Posts:

  • Qualification: You need an MBBS degree from a recognised university.

Common Requirements:

  • Registration: You must be registered with MCI (Medical Council of India) or a State Medical Council.
  • MCI Recognition: Your qualifications must be recognised by MCI.
  • Retired Government doctors (Railway/Central/State/PSU) are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 53 years as on 01 April 2026.
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (up to 58 years).
  • OBC: 3 years relaxation (up to 56 years).
  • Retired Government Doctors: Maximum 65 years as on 01 April 2026. Can be renewed up to 67 years of age.

Salary

  • GDMO: Rs. 95,000 per month (consolidated).
  • Specialist (1st Year): Rs. 1,23,500 per month (consolidated).
  • Specialist (2nd Year onwards): Rs. 1,30,000 per month (consolidated).
  • The salary includes HRA and Transport Allowance for full-time Contract Doctors.
  • If Railway accommodation is provided, an amount equal to HRA and licence fee will be deducted from the monthly pay.
  • One set of 1st Class Complimentary Railway Pass for self and family will be issued after 3 months of continuous service.
  • Daily Allowance: Rs. 900 per day for outstation journeys connected with contract work.

Selection Process

Selection will be done through a single stage:

  1. Walk-in Interview: Candidates need to appear in person at the venue with all original documents and self-attested photocopies. The interview panel will assess your qualifications, experience, and suitability for the post.
  2. Medical Examination: Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination to confirm fitness before the contract is signed.
  3. Document Verification: All original certificates will be verified at the time of the interview.

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection is purely based on the walk-in interview.

Responsibilities

  • Handle patient care including OPD, IPD, and emergency services at Railway hospitals and health units
  • Attend to all medical emergencies, accidents, and urgent cases reported within the Railway jurisdiction
  • Manage routine health check-ups and issue medical certificates for Railway employees and their dependants
  • Maintain proper medical records, case sheets, and clinical documentation as per Railway Medical Manual
  • Work in shifts as per the duty roster assigned by the controlling authority
  • Perform surgical procedures and specialist consultations within the area of expertise (for Specialist posts)
  • Follow all terms and conditions laid down by Railway Board for Contract Medical Practitioners
