ESIC Joka Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is recruiting Senior Residents for ESI-PGIMSR, ESIC Medical College and Hospital and ODC (EZ), Joka, Kolkata. The residency drive brings together clinical, non-clinical and super-specialty departments in the same notice. You would join on a contractual residency appointment, with continuation assessed through your work performance.

Posts and Disciplines

• Non-clinical departments: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Community Medicine and Pharmacology.
• Medicine and allied departments: General Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Psychiatry, Chest Medicine and Dermatology.
• Surgical and related departments: General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Critical care and paediatrics: ICU, Paediatrics, NICU and PICU are listed separately, alongside Anaesthesia.
• Super specialty: Paediatric Surgery is included under the super-specialty residency entry.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first contract is for one year. Extensions depend on satisfactory performance, with a total residency tenure of up to three years, including the initial appointment.
• Earlier residency: Previous government-institution residency counts towards the maximum tenure. The notice does not offer a fresh full term independent of service already completed elsewhere.
• Contract status: Selection gives you no right to permanent confirmation or continued service. The appointment remains contractual and subject to the terms issued by ESIC.
• Notice period: Either side can end the contract with one month’s notice. If you resign without serving that notice, the notice requires payment equivalent to one month’s pay.
• Security deposit: A joining deposit is refundable after completion of the engagement and production of a no-dues certificate. If you end the agreement early, the deposit is not refunded.
• Private practice: Private practice of any kind is prohibited during the engagement. You must also be available for emergency and round-the-clock shift duties assigned by the hospital.
• Accommodation: Hospital quarters depend on availability. If ESIC provides accommodation, you cannot also claim house rent allowance.
• Travel: ESIC does not pay TA or DA for joining or other purposes covered by this notice. Plan for these costs when deciding whether to attend.
• Panel validity: The panel may remain valid for three months after publication of the result, but ESIC may cancel it earlier. Advertised openings can also change or be withdrawn.

Application Submission Notes

Report to the Academic Block, second floor, ESI-PGIMSR and ESIC Medical College, Joka, between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM on the day assigned to your department. If you arrive after the reporting window, you will not be considered.

Use Annexure I and the Annexure II verification slip supplied with the notice. This is an in-person walk-in route at Joka; check your department’s scheduled day carefully before arranging travel.

• Work in the clinical or non-clinical department of appointment
• Follow duty assignments issued by the Dean or Medical Superintendent
• Observe the prohibition on private practice throughout the engagement
