SBS Nagar District & Sessions Court Clerk Recruitment 2026 - 13 Posts

The Office of the District & Sessions Judge, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Punjab, has issued a Public Appointment Notice for 13 Clerk posts on an adhoc basis for six months, or until regular appointments are made by the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, whichever comes first. The vacancies are spread across categories including Freedom Fighter, Sportsperson, SC, PwBD (Low Vision/Blindness), and Ex-Servicemen quotas, reflecting the special reservation groups recognised under Punjab government rules. No written exam alone decides selection — shortlisted candidates also need to clear a computer typing test before final selection. This is a good short-term entry into the Punjab judiciary system for graduates with basic computer skills, and it can also improve your chances of a regular clerk posting later since your work will already be known to the court establishment. Even though the engagement is adhoc, the pay scale and duties are the same as a regular court clerk, so it is a genuine opportunity to gain judiciary work experience.

Vacancy Breakdown by Category

  • SC (Other, Female): 3 posts
  • Ex-Servicemen (General, Male): 2 posts
  • Ex-Servicemen (General, Female): 2 posts
  • Ex-Servicemen (Other SC, Male): 2 posts
  • Freedom Fighter (Female): 1 post
  • Sportsperson (General, Female): 1 post
  • Sportsperson (SC, Male): 1 post
  • PwBD - Low Vision/Blindness (Female): 1 post

The number of posts may change based on administrative requirement. Reserved category posts will go to General category candidates if no suitable reserved-category candidate is found eligible, wherever this is permissible under the rules. Notice that every post in this drive is earmarked for a specific reserved or special category — so check the category you qualify under carefully before you apply.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have a B.A./B.Sc degree or equivalent from a recognized university
  • Language: You must have passed Punjabi as a subject at the Matriculation level
  • Skills: You should be proficient in computer operation

Make sure your degree, Punjabi-subject mark sheet, and computer proficiency proof are ready before you apply, since incomplete applications will be rejected without any further correspondence. There is no separate age-relaxation certificate required at the application stage, but you may be asked to submit one later if you claim a reserved-category benefit.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 37 years old as on 1 August 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: Applicable to reserved categories as per rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a fixed monthly salary (basic pay only) as per Pay Level-5 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300), as adopted by the Punjab Government.
  • Since this is an adhoc appointment, only the basic pay is paid — allowances applicable to regular staff may not apply during the adhoc period.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

  1. Written Test: English Composition (50 marks) and General Knowledge (50 marks), for a total of 100 marks in 2 hours. You need at least 33% marks in each subject and 40% in aggregate to qualify.
  2. Computer Proficiency/Typing Test: The top candidates, 10 times the number of advertised posts, are called for a computer typing test in English at 30 words per minute.

The test venue and schedule will be published on the official website — no separate call letter or information slip will be sent, so keep checking regularly. Only candidates who clear both the written test cut-off and the typing test are considered for the final merit list, which is prepared category-wise.

How to Apply

  1. Fill the prescribed application proforma attached with the notification.
  2. Attach self-attested copies of your testimonials and 2 recent passport-size photographs (signed by you).
  3. Complete the bio-data section with your personal, educational, and category details.
  4. Submit your application by post so it reaches the office by 13 August 2026, 5:00 PM.

Applications received after the deadline, or through registered post/speed post/courier/email/fax after the cut-off, will be rejected without assigning any reason. No TA/DA is paid for appearing in the test or interview, and being called for the test does not automatically mean you are eligible — that is checked separately. Keep a photocopy of your completed application and enclosures for your own records before you send it.
