Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna company, has released a notification (Advt. No. ISP/YP/2026/01) to engage 48 Young Professionals on a fixed-term contract basis across its Projects, Works, and Materials Management divisions. This is an engineering-focused engagement for B.E./B.Tech holders who already have a few years of industry experience. The engagement is for 3 years and can be extended up to 5 years based on your performance.

Vacancy Breakdown

A total of 48 posts are spread across three plants:

• IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), Burnpur: 30 posts
• Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), Durgapur: 16 posts
• Alloy Steels Plant (ASP), Durgapur: 2 posts

The posts are divided into three pay grades based on experience:

The disciplines include Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science/IT, Automation, Environmental Engineering and more, across Projects, Works, and Materials Management areas.

Who Can Apply?

You must be an Indian national who has completed 23 years of age, with the right engineering degree and work experience for the post you choose.

Educational Qualification

• You need a B.E./B.Tech degree (or equivalent) in the discipline relevant to the post — such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, IT, or Environmental Engineering.
• The degree must be Regular/Full-time from a Government-recognised University or Institution with a minimum of 65% marks.
• For Safety posts (P-3A/P-3B), you also need a Degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety recognised by the Central/State Government.

Work Experience

• YP-1 posts: minimum 3 years of post-qualification executive experience in a Steel Plant, Process Industry, or Manufacturing Industry.
• YP-2 posts: minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
• YP-3 posts: minimum 10 years of relevant experience.

For Safety posts, fluency in Bengali (speak, read and write) is preferred.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: You must have completed 23 years.
• Upper age limit (YP-1): 35 years
• Upper age limit (YP-2): 38 years
• Upper age limit (YP-3): 42 years

Salary

• Young Professional-1 (YP-1): Rs. 70,000 per month (consolidated)
• Young Professional-2 (YP-2): Rs. 1,00,000 per month (consolidated)
• Young Professional-3 (YP-3): Rs. 1,40,000 per month (consolidated)
• You also get an annual increment of 4% / 7% / 10% of the monthly fee based on your yearly performance.
• Other benefits include free medical facilities for self, spouse and two children, company accommodation (subject to availability), mobile/broadband reimbursement, and travel reimbursement on official tours.

Note: This is a consolidated retainership fee. No HRA, PF, Pension, Gratuity or other perks are payable beyond what is mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process

The selection happens in these stages:

1. Application Scrutiny: All applications are checked for eligibility after the closing date.
2. Computer-Based Test (CBT): If a post gets more than 5 times the required applicants, a CBT / Aptitude / General Management / Psychometric Test is held to shortlist candidates in a 1:3 ratio for the interview.
3. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for an interview. The final merit list uses an 80:20 weightage (CBT : Interview). If fewer than 5 times the applicants apply, everyone may be called directly for the interview.
4. Pre-Employment Medical Examination: You must furnish a general medical fitness certificate.
5. Document Verification: Your qualification, experience and age documents are verified against originals.

CBT and Interviews will be held at centres across the country as decided by SAIL.

• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and drawings for your area
• Troubleshoot equipment, systems, or processes when problems come up
• Attend to emergent requirements assigned from time to time
• Work in shifts as per allocated timing, including beyond standard hours when work demands
