IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), a unit of SAIL — a Maharatna company — has released Advertisement No. ISP/RECTT/CONT_DOC/2026/307 dated 18 August 2026 to engage Consultants (Doctors in Medical Disciplines) at its Burnpur Hospital. The notice covers 6 Specialist posts across five disciplines and 6 GDMO posts (including 2 backlog vacancies). Retired doctors are also welcome to apply — this is one of the few SAIL notices open to both serving and retired medical professionals. The initial engagement is for one year from the date of joining, extendable based on performance and requirement, and this is a contractual role rather than a regular SAIL appointment — it can be ended by either side with one month's notice. Presidential Directives on reservation will be followed as applicable, and Income Tax/GST on your engagement will be handled as per applicable provisions.

Who Can Apply?

For Specialist Posts (O&G, Pulmonary Medicine, General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Critical Care Medicine):

• You need an MBBS degree with a PG Diploma, PG Degree, or DNB in the relevant specialty from a recognised University/Institute.
• You must be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council (SMC) and hold a valid medical practitioner licence, enrolled in the State or National Register.
• Candidates with relevant post-qualification work experience will be given preference.

For GDMO Posts:

• You need an MBBS degree from a recognised University/Institute.
• You must be registered with MCI/NMC/SMC with a valid practitioner licence and enrolled in the State or National Register.

• You must be an Indian national with the requisite qualification from an institute recognised by MCI/NMC/SMC, for both Specialist and GDMO posts.

Ex-employees of SAIL and non-SAIL ex-employees who took Voluntary Retirement are not eligible to apply, and must submit a self-declaration to this effect.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit for both Specialist and GDMO posts is 69 years as on 02 September 2026.
• Your qualification and experience will also be counted as on the date of the advertisement (18 August 2026).

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam — selection happens directly through a walk-in interview:

1. Walk-in Interview: Held at the Office of CMO I/C (M&HS), Burnpur Hospital, Burnpur-713325, Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal. If there are a large number of candidates, the interview may be staggered to the next working day.
2. Document Verification: All certificates and documents are checked only at the time of the interview — candidates who cannot produce them will not be allowed to appear.
3. Medical Fitness Check: Your joining is subject to being declared medically fit.

A discipline-wise, category-wise panel will be formed from the interview, and empanelled candidates may be considered for future openings too. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. Once engaged, SAIL-ISP can end your assignment immediately if you are found medically unfit for a considerable period, show poor performance, or are involved in moral turpitude, conviction by a court of law, insolvency, loss of licence to practice, grave misconduct, or financial irregularity.

How to Apply

1. Prepare your application in the prescribed format (Annexure-B) along with 2 additional passport-size colour photographs.
2. Fill in the Letter of Undertaking (Annexure-A).
3. Collect original documents plus one set of self-attested photocopies — mark sheets, degree certificates, MCI/NMC/SMC registration, category certificate (if applicable), photo ID proof, and address proof.
4. Walk in for the interview at the scheduled date, time, and venue given below.
5. Optionally, email an advance copy of your application to ispcf01@sail.in with the subject line "CONSULTANTS (DOCTORS IN MEDICAL DISCIPLINES) AT SAIL-ISP, BURNPUR" by 1 September 2026.

SAIL-ISP reserves the right to reject any application or cancel the interview process at any stage without assigning a reason, and its decision on all matters relating to eligibility and selection will be final and binding.

• Manage day-to-day medical care and treatment plans for admitted patients

• Coordinate with nursing staff and other departments for patient care
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment history
• Conduct ward rounds and monitor patient recovery progress
• Follow hospital protocols and infection control guidelines
• Guide junior medical staff and interns where required
