About This Job

The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab is empanelling Specialist Doctors for District Hospitals (DH), Sub Divisional Hospitals (SDH) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) across Punjab. If you are an MBBS doctor with MD/MS/DNB in any of the 13 listed specialties, you can apply online and attend a walk-in interview on every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. The age limit is up to 64 years. Empanelment is on a per-patient fee basis with a minimum assured monthly payment.

Punjab Health Specialist Doctor Empanelment 2026

The Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW), Government of Punjab has invited eligible Specialist Doctors for empanelment at District Hospital, Sub Divisional Hospital and Community Health Centre level. This empanelment covers 13 medical specialties and is open across all districts of Punjab. There is no written exam — selection is through a walk-in interview at the Office of the Concerned Civil Surgeon. The empanelment notice was issued on 05 May 2026 under Reference No. E4(4)/Pb./2026/2475.

The total number of empanelment slots is not fixed — the post may be increased or decreased at any stage based on the needs of each district facility.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: MBBS with MD / MS / DNB degree or DNB diploma in the relevant specialty from a recognised University or Institution approved by the Medical Council of India.
  • Registration: You must be registered with the Punjab Medical Council or the Medical Council of India.
  • Language: You must have passed Punjabi subject up to Matric standard (or equivalent).
  • Foreign Medical Graduates must have passed the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 64 years
  • Your age should be less than 64 years on the date of interview

Salary & Empanelment Fee

This is a per-patient empanelment, not a fixed salary post. You will be paid per service rendered. The minimum monthly assurance is built in — you will be paid at least the minimum amount calculated at 50 patients/day for OPD across all working days.

  • OPD consultation: Rs. 100 per patient (50 to 150 patients/day)
  • IPD consultation: Rs. 100 per patient (2 to 20 patients/day)
  • Major Surgery / Caesarean Section: Rs. 3,500 per case
  • Minor Surgery: Rs. 1,000 per case
  • Minor procedure: Rs. 500 per case
  • Ultrasound: Rs. 400 per scan
  • Emergency call: Rs. 1,500 per visit
  • Anaesthesia charges (for major surgeries): Rs. 2,000 per case
  • Pathology tests: Total minimum assured Rs. 3,150 per day (Annexure 1 rates)

No other allowances, perks, bonus or medical reimbursement are payable. Maximum of 4 leave days per month allowed. You can also continue private practice at other locations.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is through a single-stage walk-in interview:

  1. Online Application: Fill the prescribed Performa on recruit.nhmpunjab.com
  2. Walk-in Interview: Attend on the 2nd or 4th Tuesday of the month at the Office of the Civil Surgeon of the district for which you applied. If a gazetted holiday falls on the scheduled Tuesday, the interview will be conducted on the next working day.
  3. Document Verification: Bring originals plus one self-attested photocopy of all documents to the interview

No separate interview call letter will be issued. The interview will be held in the office of the Civil Surgeon of the district selected during application.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist clinical services for at least 3 hours daily at the empanelled health facility
  • Attend OPD patients (50-150 per day) and IPD patients (2-20 per day) in your specialty
  • Perform major surgeries, caesarean sections, minor procedures and emergency calls as required
  • Maintain a manual register for OPD and IPD patient registration until the IT system is in place
  • Follow the visit timings: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM in summer and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in winter (Monday to Saturday)
  • Refer patients only to nearby Government Hospitals when required — private referrals are strictly prohibited
  • Maintain the highest standards of medical ethics and professional conduct at Government Health Facilities
