Panjab University Chandigarh's Department of Biotechnology is hiring 1 Guest Faculty (Assistant Professor) to teach B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology classes for the 2026-27 Odd Semester under the National Education Policy (NEP). If you have a Master's degree in Biotechnology with NET/SLET/SET or a Ph.D., you can apply by email. The last date to apply is 7 August 2026. This is a purely temporary, lecture-basis role that pays an honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture, capped at Rs. 50,000 per month.

Panjab University, Chandigarh has released a vacancy notice for 1 Guest Faculty position in the Department of Biotechnology at BMS Block-I, South Campus. The role covers teaching duties for undergraduate and postgraduate Biotechnology classes during the Odd Semester of academic year 2026-27. There is no written exam — the department will directly call shortlisted candidates for an interview.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Master's degree in Biotechnology with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) from a recognized university. A 5% relaxation on marks is given to SC/ST/Physically and Visually Handicapped/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Ph.D. degree holders who completed their Master's before 19 September 1992.
• Additional requirement: You must have cleared NET (UGC, CSIR, or an equivalent UGC-accredited test), SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. awarded as per UGC regulations. If you registered for a Ph.D. before 11 July 2009, you can be exempted from NET/SLET/SET provided your degree was in regular mode, your thesis was evaluated by two external examiners, an open viva-voce was conducted, you have published at least two research papers (one in a refereed journal), and you have made at least two conference/seminar presentations from your Ph.D. work.

Salary

• This is a lecture-basis assignment. You get an honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture, with an upper monthly limit of Rs. 50,000.
• Note: If you are already drawing a JRF scholarship or any other fellowship/stipend from the University, you will not be eligible for this honorarium — though you will still get an experience certificate for the Guest Faculty assignment.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection has a single stage:

1. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the interview date directly by the department. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
