The Department of Public Administration at Panjab University Chandigarh has released an advertisement for 1 Guest Faculty position to teach post-graduate classes during the Odd Semester (2026-27). The selection is based purely on interview performance — there is no written exam, making this a quick route into university teaching for qualified candidates. Both fresh NET-qualified candidates and Ph.D. holders can apply, as candidates without a Ph.D. will also be considered in its absence.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in Public Administration from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• You must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. awarded under UGC regulations (with exemption conditions for Ph.D. holders registered before 11 July 2009).
• Alternative route: A Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 globally (QS, THE, or ARWU rankings) also qualifies.
• Relaxation: A 5% relaxation at Bachelor's and Master's level is allowed for SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates. A 5% relaxation (55% to 50%) applies to Ph.D. holders who completed their Master's before 19 September 1991.

If You Registered for Ph.D. Before 11 July 2009:

You are exempted from NET/SLET/SET if all of these conditions are met:

• Your Ph.D. degree was awarded in a regular mode.
• Your Ph.D. thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners.
• You had an open Ph.D. viva voce.
• You published two research papers from your Ph.D. work, with at least one in a refereed journal.
• You presented at least two papers based on your Ph.D. work at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences or seminars.

Note: Your academic score is used only to shortlist candidates for interview — the final selection depends entirely on how you perform in the interview.

Salary

• This is a lecture-basis assignment with a token honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture, subject to an upper limit of Rs. 50,000 per month.
• You must give an undertaking that you will not draw any fellowship, stipend or financial assistance from any other agency while teaching as Guest Faculty.
• Working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the Department.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Academic Score Shortlisting: Your academic score decides shortlisting for the interview only.
2. Interview: Final selection is based purely on interview performance.
3. Document Verification: Bring your original certificates and relevant documents for verification at the interview.

Shortlisted candidates will be intimated for the interview by email or phone on short notice — no separate interview letter is sent. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
