Punjab and Sind Bank (P&S Bank), a Government of India Undertaking under the Ministry of Finance, has released a notification for lateral recruitment of 27 Specialist Officers in the Security discipline at MMGS II level. This is a regular (permanent) appointment with posting anywhere in India. The bank is specifically looking for former defence and paramilitary officers who can handle security management at its zonal offices and branches across the country. Present employees of Punjab and Sind Bank are NOT eligible to apply.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • You must be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognised University.
  • You must have a valid Mark-sheet or Degree Certificate showing you are a graduate, and must indicate the percentage of marks obtained at the time of online registration.

Post-Qualification Work Experience (cut-off date: 05.05.2026)

You need a minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in one of the following roles:

  • Option A (Defence): Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army (Captain), Navy (Lieutenant), or Air Force (Flight Lieutenant) with at least 5 years of military service, released on completion of assignment (or assignment due to be completed within one year from the last date of receipt of applications) — NOT dismissed or discharged for misconduct/inefficiency/physical disability.
  • Option B (Police/Paramilitary): Gazetted Police Officer not below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police or Assistant Commandant of Paramilitary Forces (BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, etc.) with minimum 5 years of service.

Important: Candidates who have been terminated or removed from service by a previous employer will not be considered eligible for this post.

Credit History

  • You must maintain a healthy credit history and have a minimum CIBIL score of 650 or above at the time of joining. A CIBIL report must be submitted at the time of Document Verification.

Nationality

  • You must be a Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries.

Age Limit

  • You must be between 23 and 35 years old as on 01.04.2026.
  • You should have been born not earlier than 02.04.1991 and not later than 01.04.2003 (both dates inclusive).

Age Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:

  • SC / ST: 5 years relaxation
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation
  • Persons affected by 1984 Riots: 5 years relaxation
  • Ex-Servicemen (Commissioned Officers, ECOs/SSCOs): 5 years relaxation — applicable to those who have rendered at least 5 years of military service and been released on completion of assignment, not by dismissal or discharge for misconduct/inefficiency/physical disability

Salary

  • Pay Scale (MMGS II): Rs. 64,820 – Rs. 93,960 per month (entry pay Rs. 64,820)
  • DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance) / Leased Accommodation (if applicable) as per Scale and location, and CCA (City Compensatory Allowance) as per Bank's prescribed norms and rules in force
  • Medical, LTC (Leave Travel Concession), Terminal Benefits and other perquisites as per prevailing rules
  • A service bond equivalent to 3 months' gross salary (initial basic + DA + Special Allowance + DA on Special Allowance) must be executed, with a 2-year bond period and 1-year probation period

Selection Process

Selection is done in up to 4 stages:

  1. Written Test (Online): 100 questions for 100 marks in 105 minutes. Divided into 3 sections:
    • English Language: 20 questions, 20 marks, 15 minutes
    • General Awareness: 20 questions, 20 marks, 30 minutes
    • Professional Knowledge (Security): 60 questions, 60 marks, 60 minutes
    Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for Unreserved & EWS; 35% for Reserved categories (per section). Note: The Bank may waive off the written test at its sole discretion.
  2. Screening: Shortlisting of candidates based on written test performance for Personal Interview.
  3. Personal Interview: Conducted at New Delhi (unless specified otherwise). Candidates must attend at their own cost. Call letters sent by email only. Written test carries 70% weightage; Personal Interview carries 30% weightage in final scoring.
  4. Final Merit List: Prepared state-wise and category-wise. A language proficiency test may be required. Final scores = Written Test (out of 120 converted to 70 marks) + Interview (out of 50 converted to 30 marks) = 100 marks total.

Responsibilities

  • Implement security measures and safety protocols across Bank branches and Zonal Offices
  • Liaise with Police, local law enforcement, and other security authorities on behalf of the Bank
  • Train and supervise Armed Guards deployed at Zonal Offices and Branches
  • Monitor and review security systems, CCTV infrastructure, and access control at bank premises
  • Prepare security-related reports and escalate incidents to senior management
  • Coordinate with Currency Chest (CBB), RCC, ARB, and special branch operations as assigned
  • Conduct security audits and risk assessments for bank properties and high-value transactions
  • Manage emergency response protocols and ensure business continuity in crisis situations
