Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You need a recognized MBBS degree from a university approved by the Medical Council of India.
- Registration: Registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council (or Medical Council of India) is compulsory.
- Domicile: You should be a resident of Maharashtra. If you want reservation benefits, you must carry a domicile certificate issued by a competent authority.
- Category Certificates: Reserved category candidates need a valid caste/category certificate and, where applicable, a caste validity certificate and non-creamy layer certificate (for OBC, SEBC, VJ, NT and EWS candidates).
- Computer Knowledge: If you hold an MSCIT certificate, mention it in your application — it is not compulsory, but it helps.
- Only full-time government, semi-government, or private hospital experience beyond your MBBS qualification is considered valid — part-time or consultancy work does not count.
- Undertaking: You must give a signed undertaking that no criminal case is registered against you.
- EWS Certificate: Economically Weaker Section candidates must submit the certificate in the format prescribed under Government Resolution No. RAADHO-4019/Prakaran-31/16-A, dated 12 February 2019 and 31 May 2019.
If you are applying under a reserved category, you must attach your caste/category certificate and, where required, your non-creamy layer certificate along with the application — applications without these certificates will be rejected outright. NMMC has also made clear that details of your current and permanent address, and your caste/category, must be filled in accurately, since no changes are allowed once the application is submitted.
Age Limit
- You can apply for this post up to 70 years of age.
- Small Family Norm: Under National Health Mission rules, you are not eligible if your third child was born on or after 23 July 2020.
Salary
- Selected Medical Officers will get a fixed monthly salary of Rs. 60,000 under the NUHM scheme.
- This is a contract-based, consolidated pay position — additional allowances depend on NMMC Health Department rules.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
NMMC selects Medical Officers directly through document verification and a walk-in interview:
- Document Scrutiny: Bring your original MBBS certificate, mark sheets, MMC/MCI registration, domicile certificate, and category certificates (if applicable) for verification.
- Walk-in Interview: Attend the interview in person on the scheduled date at the venue mentioned below.

Responsibilities
- Examine and treat patients visiting the urban health centre or dispensary
- Prescribe medicines and refer serious cases to higher health facilities
