National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released notification for 4 Project Fellow posts in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. These positions are under the sponsored research project titled "Information Security Education and Awareness Project Phase III (Hardware Security)", funded by MEITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology). The engagement is purely on a temporary and contractual basis for a period of 2 years. Candidates with an engineering degree or science background and a valid GATE score should apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.E. / B.Tech. in CSE, IT, or ECE, or an MCA, or M.Sc. in an appropriate branch of Science from a recognised university.
• Minimum Marks: You must have scored at least CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in your B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent exam.
• 12th Standard Requirement: PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) is mandatory in 11th and 12th standards.
• Desirable: GATE qualified candidates are preferred.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 28 years (as on the last date of receipt of applications, i.e., 15 April 2026).
• SC/ST/PwD/Female: 5 years relaxation (up to 33 years).
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation (up to 31 years).

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month for Year 1 and Year 2.
• This is a project-based contractual position. The engagement is co-terminus with the project completion (project end date: 31 March 2029).

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on merit and the requirements of the project. NIT Rourkela reserves the right to set higher criteria for shortlisting beyond the minimum advertised qualification.
2. Online Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be informed for the online interview. The interview date will be notified later.
3. Document Verification: Selection or joining will be cancelled if any suppression of information or documents is found.

Job Description

• Work towards MS by Research or M.Tech by Research in the area of hardware security.
• Design and implement secure hardware architectures on FPGA platforms.
• Develop and evaluate machine learning and deep learning models for side-channel attack detection, hardware Trojan identification, and fault injection resilience.
