NIT Meghalaya Deputy Director Recruitment 2026

NIT Meghalaya is looking to fill 1 Deputy Director post through an internal selection process. Only serving Senior Professors of the Institute with strong administrative and research experience can apply. National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NITM) Deputy Director Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NITM), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is one of 31 NITs in the country and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Engineering, Sciences, Management, and Humanities. The Institute, located at Saitsohpen, Sohra (Cherrapunjee) in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, has released a notification inviting applications for the post of Deputy Director. This is an internal recruitment — only senior faculty members already working at NIT Meghalaya can apply, and the eligibility criteria are laid down under the First Statutes of the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007 (as amended in 2017), specifically Section 17(5) and Statute 23(5)(a). The selected candidate will hold the post on a contract basis for 3 years, extendable by up to two more years, and will assist the Director in academic and administrative work while also holding all powers of the Director during any vacancy in that post.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligibility: You must be a serving Professor of NIT Meghalaya with a minimum of 5 years of experience as Professor.
• Administrative Experience: You should have served at least 2 years as Head of Department (HoD) or Dean.
• Academic Record: You need an outstanding academic record with significant experience guiding Ph.D. research, and should be recognised as an eminent person in your field of specialisation.
• Contribution: You must show sufficient contribution in academics, administration, and outreach activities during your career at the Institute.
• Clearance: No vigilance, disciplinary, or criminal case should be pending or contemplated against you in any government organisation, and you should not have been convicted by any Court of Law.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 60 years as on the last date of application submission (27 July 2026).

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NIT Meghalaya will select the Deputy Director through the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: The Institute will shortlist eligible candidates based on criteria fixed by the Selection Committee.
2. Document Verification: You need to submit self-attested copies of all certificates, testimonials, and supporting documents along with your application; applications without these will be rejected.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear before a Selection Committee constituted under the NIT Act, 2007.

The Selection Committee will recommend a panel of names to the Board, which makes the final appointment. Note that mere fulfilment of the required qualifications does not entitle you to be called for an interview — the Institute reserves the right to fix its own short-listing criteria and also reserves the right not to fill the advertised post. Your candidature will remain provisional at every stage until your eligibility is verified, and your age, qualifications and experience will be assessed as on the last date for submission of the application. If any of your claims are found to be incorrect, your candidature will be rejected, and you will be responsible for the authenticity of all information, documents and photographs you submit.

5. Send the application by Registered Post, Speed Post, or by hand to The Registrar, National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, Saitsohpen, Sohra, East Khasi Hills - 793108, Meghalaya so that it reaches by 27 July 2026 (till 5 PM).

Applications received without the required supporting documents, or sent through any mode other than the one specified above, will be rejected. Your date of birth as mentioned in the application form is treated as final and no subsequent request for change will be considered. Fill in all details carefully, as no correspondence regarding a change of details will be entertained after the last date for applying.
