NIT Durgapur Senior Project Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) is recruiting a Senior Project Associate for a research project in its Department of Chemical Engineering. Professor Parimal Pal leads the work, which is supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The project brings together solar-assisted membrane systems, lithium recovery and water recovery from aqueous streams at lithium mines.

The project's focus is a design-to-scale framework: it combines a proof-of-concept study with an industry-supported deployment strategy. You would join a project built around a specific recovery system, with membrane development and modelling connected to that wider aim. The engagement belongs to this research project at NIT Durgapur.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: The engagement is for 20 months. It may extend up to 24 months depending on the progress of the work. The longer period is conditional, so you should consider the initial tenure when planning your commitment.
  • Travel expenses: The institute will not pay travelling or daily allowance for attending the interview. You will need to make your own arrangements for the visit.
  • Communication: Shortlisted applicants will receive an email from the project team. Keep the email address in your application clear so the team can contact you about the next stage.

Application Submission Notes

You can send your application by post to Professor Parimal Pal, Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT Durgapur, West Bengal, or send a soft copy to ppal.che@nitdgp.ac.in. The notice accepts both hard-copy and soft-copy applications, so an online recruitment portal is not needed for this project.

The interview venue is the Department of Chemical Engineering at NIT Durgapur. Use the project team's email communication for your interview arrangements. If you use the postal route, check the complete delivery address in the original notice before dispatch.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a membrane system for lithium and water recovery.
  • Work on solar-driven direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD).
  • Model the membrane recovery system.
  • Prepare technical reports on the project work.
  • Write research articles for publication.
