RGCB Scientist Biotechnology Recruitment 2026: Overview

BRIC-Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is recruiting scientists to build independent, multidisciplinary research programmes in biotechnology and disease biology. The institute belongs to the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology. These regular faculty positions support its next phase of translational research, bringing laboratory discoveries closer to practical healthcare and biotechnology uses.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Scientist C: A faculty grade in the institute’s biotechnology and disease-biology recruitment programme. You can propose research connected with the scientific themes outlined in this notice.
  • Scientist E-II: A senior faculty grade within the same multidisciplinary research drive. The notice covers both discovery-led research and work that turns scientific findings into useful technologies.
  • Scientist F: Another senior faculty grade in this recruitment. These appointments share the institute’s focus on independent research programmes and collaboration across scientific disciplines.
  • Cancer and cell-based research: Research themes include cancer genomics, molecular diagnostics, cell engineering, targeted therapies, drug delivery, immunotherapeutics and regenerative medicine. The notice also identifies tissue engineering and diagnostic devices as priority directions.
  • Pathogen biology and neurobiology: Programmes span host-pathogen interactions, virology, disease mechanisms and advanced diagnostics, alongside brain development, neural stem cells and clinical neuroscience.
  • Cardiovascular, diabetes and plant research: Other priorities include molecular approaches to cardiovascular disease and diabetes, spice genomics, and the biology of medicinal plants. The notice leaves room for relevant ideas beyond the listed themes.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Research support: You will have access to shared laboratory space and start-up resources. The institute expects investigators to build their programmes with substantial externally funded research projects.
  • Rolling recruitment: RGCB accepts applications across the year and reviews them quarterly. The current application window belongs to this quarter; the portal will briefly close before accepting applications for the next round.
  • Posting flexibility: You may be posted at any RGCB office or branch in India, depending on administrative needs. The institute’s Thiruvananthapuram address does not limit this posting condition.
  • Institutional discretion: RGCB may leave advertised posts unfilled, withdraw posts or consider shortlisted applicants for additional identical requirements. The final offer also depends on the institute’s administrative decision.
  • Application conduct: Attempts to influence the recruitment can lead to disqualification. Incomplete forms or unreadable uploads can also be rejected without further correspondence.

Application Submission Notes

If you work in a government organisation, public sector undertaking or autonomous body, apply through the proper employer channel. You may send an advance copy; where forwarding is not possible, the notice provides an employer-clearance alternative for shortlisted applicants.

For problems using the application system, contact facultyrecruitment@rgcb.res.in. This address is for technical support; the notice directs applications through its online portal.

Corrigenda and Notices

  • Research-record amendment: The corrigendum revises the publication and research-experience wording for Scientist E-II and Scientist F. Scientist C requirements remain unchanged; the post-specific eligibility fields reflect the amended wording.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an independent research programme linked to RGCB’s biotechnology and disease-biology priorities.
  • Plan multidisciplinary research that connects scientific discoveries with practical applications.
  • Collaborate with researchers across disciplines on shared research projects.
  • Secure external project funding to support your research programme.
