RGIPT Registrar and Finance Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is recruiting for its non-teaching administration at the Jais campus in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Established under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the institute also has campuses at Sivasagar and Bengaluru. This notice covers the Registrar and Finance Officer roles through direct recruitment, with deputation as the fallback route.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Registrar: an institute-wide administrative role connecting statutory bodies, employees, records and the Director's office.
  • Finance Officer - Audit, Taxation and Financial Compliance: a specialist finance role focused on institutional accounts, audit responses, tax compliance and financial controls.

Post-wise Duties

Registrar

As Registrar, you will hold responsibility for institutional records, the common seal and funds, while serving as non-member secretary to the Board of Governors, Senate, Finance Committee and Building and Works Committee. Your work also covers staff administration, legal and establishment matters, statutory reporting and liaison with government bodies.

You will support the Director in running the institute's administration, safeguard its assets and coordinate its official correspondence. Preparing the annual report forms part of the role, alongside oversight of employee recruitment, assessment, mentoring and welfare.

Finance Officer

As Finance Officer, you will coordinate statutory and internal audits, answer audit observations and oversee tax returns and related notices. You will also prepare or review annual accounts, budgets and financial statements, and monitor expenditure against the institute's plans.

The role includes financial scrutiny of purchases and projects, covering tenders, contracts, bills and externally funded work. You will strengthen payment and asset controls and prepare financial reports for the Director, Finance Committee and Board of Governors.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Appointment route: direct recruitment is the first route for these positions. The institute may use deputation if direct recruitment does not fill them.
  • Probation: a direct recruit starts with a probation period of 1 year from joining.
  • Campus posting: your primary workplace will be Jais. You may be transferred or asked to serve at another RGIPT campus when institutional needs demand it.
  • Separate applications: if you seek both positions, each needs its own application and separate employer clearance where applicable. Otherwise, the institute will consider only the first post named.
  • Travel reimbursement: applicants called for presentation or interview can claim the lower of actual shortest-route fare and the permitted Economy Air or AC-I rail fare, against original tickets. This does not apply if checks show that you do not meet the requirements.
  • Recruitment changes: RGIPT can reschedule, suspend, cancel or withdraw the process, or leave a post unfilled. It may also correct or withdraw a communication if it later identifies an error.
  • Communication: recruitment correspondence goes to the email address in your application. Tell the institute promptly if your contact details change, and check its recruitment section for updates.
  • Accuracy of your form: false statements or concealed information can cancel your appointment, including after joining. Changes to submitted application fields are not accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Manage institute records, statutory reporting and official correspondence as Registrar.
  • Coordinate statutory committees and prepare the institute's annual report.
  • Oversee employee administration, mentoring and welfare.
  • Coordinate statutory and internal audits and resolve audit observations as Finance Officer.
  • Prepare annual accounts, financial statements, budgets and management reports.
  • Handle GST, income-tax and TDS compliance and related reconciliations.
  • Review procurement payments, project funds and internal financial controls.
