NIT Durgapur Project Staff Recruitment 2026 - 6 Posts

National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) first issued Advertisement No. NITD/CK/EE/ANRF/NHPC/ADV/26-27/01 dated 6 April 2026. The extension notice dated 28 April 2026 says the earlier last date of 23 April 2026 has now been extended to 10 May 2026. The work is linked to an ANRF sponsored project and an NHPC sponsored R&D project in electrical engineering.

The projects focus on areas such as partial discharge monitoring, ultra high frequency sensors, high voltage testing, embedded systems, FPGA design, analog and digital electronics, microcontroller programming, and PCB design. These are purely contractual positions, so selected candidates cannot claim regular appointment at NIT Durgapur.

Project duration matters: The original notice says the ANRF sponsored project runs for 36 months and the NHPC sponsored project runs for 24 months. The exact role duration will follow the project and performance review. The notice also says performance may be evaluated every 1 year or 6 months, so selected candidates should be ready for regular project progress review.

Vacancy Breakdown

  • Senior Research Fellow / Junior Research Fellow: 1 post under the ANRF sponsored project.
  • Project Assistant / Project Associate-I / Project Associate-II / Senior Project Associate: 3 posts under the NHPC sponsored R&D project.
  • Student Interns: 2 posts for NIT Durgapur EE/CSE 3rd year students only.
  • Total: 6 posts across research, project, and internship roles.

Who Can Apply?

For JRF/SRF and Project Technical Positions

  • Qualification: You need BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, CSE, ECE, EIE, or a similar circuit branch.
  • Research areas: Experience in partial discharge monitoring, high voltage test technique, and ultra high frequency sensors is useful.
  • Programming and electronics skills: C#, .NET, Embedded C/C++, FPGA Verilog, analog/digital system design, microcontroller programming, and PCB design are desirable.

For Student Interns

  • Institute condition: Student Intern posts are for NIT Durgapur only.
  • Course condition: You should be a 3rd year EE or CSE student at NIT Durgapur.
  • Internship pay: Student Interns get Rs. 8,000 per month.

Use the application form carefully: Annexure III asks for education from Matriculation onwards, employment or training details, BE/B.Tech and ME/M.Tech project titles, research experience summary, journal or conference publications, field of interest, and other achievements. Fill these parts properly because they help the committee judge your project fit.

Age Limit

  • Age reference: The original application form asks for age as on 23 April 2026.
  • Project levels: Age limits follow the ANRF/DST and NHPC project manpower norms for the relevant post level.
  • Relaxation: Reserved category relaxation applies as per Government of India or project rules wherever applicable.

Fellowship / Salary

  • JRF: Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA as per institute norms.
  • SRF: Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA as per institute norms.
  • Project Associate / technical positions: Pay will follow NHPC sponsored R&D project norms for the specific level.
  • Student Interns: Rs. 8,000 per month.
  • Allowance note: HRA is applicable where allowed by the fellowship/project norms; no TA/DA will be paid for interview.

Selection Process

There is no written exam mentioned in the notification. NIT Durgapur will shortlist applications and call selected candidates for an interview at NIT Durgapur.

  1. Application screening: The department checks your qualification, branch, project fit, research experience, and technical skills.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview at NIT Durgapur, Mahatma Gandhi Avenue, Durgapur - 713209, West Bengal.
  3. Document verification: Bring original certificates, results, DOB proof, experience certificates, training certificates, project reports, publications, and one self-attested copy set.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, so plan travel only after receiving a call from the institute. The notice also says canvassing in any form will disqualify the applicant, so keep communication professional and limited to the application process.

How to Apply

  1. Download the application form from the official NIT Durgapur notification PDF at nitdgp.ac.in.
  2. Fill in your personal details, education history, experience, project titles, research summary, publications, and field of interest.

  4. Email the completed application form to chiranjib.koley@gmail.com.

Before sending the email, check that your branch and technical skills match the project needs. If you have worked on high voltage systems, embedded C/C++, FPGA Verilog, sensors, PCB design, or microcontrollers, mention those details clearly because they are directly relevant to the project.

At the interview stage, keep all originals ready: degree certificates, mark sheets, DOB proof, experience certificates, training certificates, BE/B.Tech and ME/M.Tech project reports, research publications, and one self-attested photocopy set.
