About This Job

NIT Durgapur is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Chemical Engineering. NIT Durgapur JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) has released Advertisement No. NITD/CHE/JRF/ANRF-IRG/01/2026 dated 30 April 2026. The JRF will work on the project titled AI-Optimised Sustainable Treatment of Pharmaceutical Wastewater through Integrated Decontamination System. This is a good research opening for candidates interested in wastewater treatment, membrane-driven treatment technology, environmental engineering, biotechnology, chemical engineering, and allied research areas.

The Principal Investigator is Prof. Gopinath Halder, Department of Chemical Engineering. Who Can Apply?

Engineering / Technology Route

  • Qualification: You need M.E./M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Biochemistry, Environmental Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Microbiology, or an allied subject.
  • Marks condition: You need at least 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks from a recognised institute or university.

Science Route

  • Qualification: You need M.Sc in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Microbiology.
  • Exam condition: You must have a valid NET/GATE score. Other national-level exams by Central Government departments/agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, IIT, IISc, or IISER will also be considered.
  • Marks condition: You need at least 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks.

Preferred Profile

  • Research experience: Work in membrane-driven wastewater treatment technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Publications: Research publications in the relevant area will strengthen your application.
  • Final-year students: M.Tech/M.Sc pursuing students from the listed disciplines in 2026 may apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.E./M.Tech in relevant engineering/allied subject with 6.5 CGPA/60%, or M.Sc in Biotechnology/Chemistry/Environmental Science/Microbiology with NET/GATE and 6.5 CGPA/60%.

Preferred Qualification

Experience in membrane-driven wastewater treatment technology or related field with publications; NET/GATE candidates preferred.
