NICL Administrative Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a Government of India undertaking, is recruiting Administrative Officers in Scale I through a common drive for generalist and specialist streams. This is recruitment to the company's regular officer cadre, with both fresh openings and a specialist backlog entry. You choose a discipline when applying, so the generalist and specialist routes remain separate within the same notification.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Generalist: The generalist stream is listed separately from the professional and technical specialisations.
  • Finance: This specialist stream covers Chartered Accountant and Cost and Management Accountant backgrounds.
  • Legal: The legal stream sits within the specialist officer cadre.
  • Information Technology: This stream includes both regular openings and a separately identified backlog entry.
  • Automobile Engineering: This engineering stream is distinct from Risk Engineering in the notice.
  • Risk Engineering: This is a separate specialist route with its own discipline boundaries.
  • Company Secretary: These officers will primarily work at the Head Office in Kolkata.
  • Agriculture: The specialist drive also includes an agriculture stream alongside the finance, legal and engineering streams.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Posting and transfers: NICL can post or transfer you anywhere in India according to its needs. You must stay at your initial place of posting for at least five years, so plan for a long initial assignment rather than an early location change.
  • Specialist service: The company may keep specialist officers in their chosen specialisation for at least ten years. Promotion remains possible under company rules while this condition applies.
  • Probation: Your first year is probation. NICL can extend it twice, by six months each time, and may end the appointment if it finds your performance unsuitable during probation.
  • Confirmation: You must pass the Insurance Institute of India's non-life Licentiate Examination during probation. If you do not pass within the extended probation period, your service can end.
  • Service bond: You commit to serve for at least four years, including probation. Leaving early can trigger damages based on one year of gross probation salary, reduced proportionately where applicable; the bond also needs two financially sound sureties who are not blood relatives.
  • Leaving during probation: Resignation or termination during probation carries repayment obligations for salary received and part of the training cost. Read the guarantee-bond clause before accepting an appointment.
  • One discipline: You can apply for only one stream. If you complete multiple applications, NICL keeps only the latest valid one; payments linked to the other registrations are lost.
  • Reservation: OBC applicants in the creamy layer must use the unreserved category. EWS appointments remain provisional until the relevant certificate is checked, and the advertised openings may change with company requirements.
  • Application details: Once registration is completed, you cannot change the information supplied or request consideration under another post or category. Check your chosen discipline and personal details carefully before completing registration.
  • Exam travel: You bear your own expenses for attending the online examination. NICL may change the examination structure and will communicate changes through its website.
