The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH), Shillong is hiring for 21 posts of Professor, Associate Professor, and Medical Specialist across Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, and allied medical departments. North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH) Recruitment 2026 - 21 Posts

NEIAH, Shillong, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has released a notification to fill 21 teaching and specialist posts across its Ayurveda and Homoeopathy departments. The posts include Professor and Associate Professor roles in disciplines like Panchakarma, Rasa Shastra, Kayachikitsa, Organon of Medicine, and Materia Medica, along with Medical Specialist posts like Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Surgical Specialist, Pediatrician, and Radiologist. Every post can be filled by Deputation first, and only if that fails, by Direct Recruitment — except Radiologist, which is Direct Recruitment only. Candidates from Central Government, State Government, PSUs, autonomous bodies, and universities holding an analogous post are also encouraged to apply on deputation.

Vacancy Breakdown

The Ayurveda Professor posts are split across Rasa Shastra, Panchakarma, Prasuti Tantra & Stri Roga, Dravyaguna, and Shalakya Tantra. The Associate Professor (Ayurveda) posts cover Roga Nidan, Kayachikitsa, Kaumarabhritta, and Samhita & Siddhanta.

Who Can Apply?

Professor (Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Homoeopathy Allied Subject) - Level-13:

• You need a PG Degree in Ayurveda or Homoeopathy (or a PG Medical Degree for allied subjects) recognized under NCISM/NCH/NMC guidelines.
• 13 years of combined teaching or research experience in the concerned subject, including at least 2 years at Level-12 + NPA.
• Minimum 5 research publications indexed in Index Medicus or National Journals.
• A valid NTET certificate or Teacher's Code as per NCISM/NCH guidelines.

Associate Professor (Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Homoeopathy Allied Subject) - Level-12:

• You need a PG Degree in Ayurveda or Homoeopathy (or a PG Medical Degree for allied subjects) in the concerned subject.
• 9 years of combined teaching or research experience as Assistant Professor/Lecturer, including at least 3 years at Level-11 + NPA.
• Minimum 3 research publications indexed in Index Medicus or National Journals.
• A valid NTET certificate or Teacher's Code.

Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Surgical Specialist, Pediatrician - Level-12:

• You need a PG Medical Degree in the concerned subject, recognized under the IMC Act, along with registration with MCI or a State Medical Council.
• 7 years of experience in the relevant subject after your PG degree.

Radiologist - Level-11 (Direct Recruitment only):

• You need a PG Medical Degree in the concerned subject recognized under the IMC Act.
• 2 years of experience in the related field after your PG degree.

PhD is a desirable (bonus) qualification for all Professor and Associate Professor posts. All applicants must be Indian citizens.

Age Limit

• Professor posts (Ayurveda/Homoeopathy/Homoeopathy Allied Subject): up to 55 years.
• Associate Professor posts (Ayurveda/Homoeopathy/Homoeopathy Allied Subject): up to 50 years.
• Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Surgical Specialist, Pediatrician, Radiologist: up to 45 years.
• Age is counted as on the last date of receipt of application (17 August 2026).
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates and serving government employees get relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• Professor (Level-13): Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month + Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA).
• Associate Professor / Obstetrician & Gynaecologist / Surgical Specialist / Pediatrician (Level-12): Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month + NPA.
• Radiologist (Level-11): Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month + NPA.
• NPA and other allowances are admissible as per Central Government rules.

Application Fee

• General / OBC (for Level-11, 12 & 13 posts): Rs. 1,400
• SC / ST / EWS: Rs. 700
• PwBD (PH) candidates and Deputation applicants: No fee
• Payment mode: Non-refundable Bank Demand Draft in favour of "Director, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy" payable at Shillong.

Selection Process

NEIAH will select candidates through the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: Your application and documents are checked against the eligibility criteria for the post.
2. Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates are called for the next stage — meeting the minimum criteria alone does not guarantee an interview.
3. Interview (and Written/Skill Test, if required): Shortlisted candidates may need to appear for a written test, skill test, or interview at their own cost.
4. Document Verification: You must produce original NOC and Experience Certificates at the time of interview.
5. Medical Fitness: Selected candidates must be declared medically fit by the Competent Medical Board before joining.

3. Attach self-attested copies of certificates, mark sheets, caste/EWS/PwBD certificates (if applicable), and experience certificates.

5. For deputation, also attach the No Objection Certificate and Experience Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-I).
