MECDMS ECD Nurse Recruitment 2026: Overview

Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission Society (MECDMS) is empanelling ECD Nurses for a one-year engagement under the Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission. The nurses will work with mothers, babies and frontline health workers in all 12 districts of Meghalaya, from East Khasi Hills to the Garo Hills. This drive is only for Meghalaya residents — and you get extra preference if you live in the district and block where the post is located.

The role is a good fit if you have just finished an ANM, GNM, Post-Basic or B.Sc Nursing course and want hands-on community experience. Both male and female nurses can apply, and the mission is looking for people who will stay committed for the full year.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Term: the engagement lasts one year. It is an empanelment, not a regular government post.
• Commitment: only apply if you can serve the community for the full one-year duration.
• Registration: you must hold a valid registration with the Meghalaya Nursing Council.
• Seats by qualification: the posts are shared as B.Sc Nursing 50%, ANM 25% and GNM 25%. If one group has too few applicants, its seats go to the other groups in merit order.
• Merit lists: separate lists are made for each district and each qualification, so you compete mainly with nurses from your own district and course.
• Posting: placement follows district and block needs; residents of the respective district and block get preference.
• Certificates: at the end of the year you get a course completion certificate and an experience certificate.
• Learning benefits: you earn CNE credit hours from the Meghalaya Nursing Council, train as a lactational counsellor, and gain experience in maternal and child nutrition, antenatal and post-natal care, maternal mental health and inclusive care for children.
