LPSSRB Prison Department Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Ladakh Police Subordinate Service Recruitment Board (LPSSRB), working under the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, is running a direct recruitment drive for the Ladakh Prison Department through Advertisement Notification No. 03 of 2026. The posts range from the officer-level Assistant Superintendent Jail to Warder, Computer Assistant, Junior Assistant, Orderly and Barber Grade-III, all filled under the UT of Ladakh Prison (Subordinate) Service Recruitment Rules.

The biggest point to note: under the approved post-based roster, every post in this round falls in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) slot, and a Ladakh domicile certificate is compulsory. The board runs the whole process under its Transparent Recruitment Process, using RFID timing for the race, biometric checks and CCTV recording at every stage.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Assistant Superintendent Jail: the senior post in this drive, meant for postgraduates in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or Criminology. You face the full four-event endurance test and a graduation-level paper that includes English comprehension.
  • Warder: the front-line custody post, open to matriculates. You take the full endurance test, and holding a Light Motor Vehicle (Trans) licence lets you earn bonus marks through a driving test.
  • Computer Assistant: office computer work for graduates with a one-year computer software diploma, B.Sc IT/BCA holders, or those with a three-year AICTE-recognised computer diploma. Physical screening is limited to a long race.
  • Junior Assistant: clerical post for graduates who also hold a 200-hour or six-month computer course certificate. A qualifying typing test sits between the race and the written paper.
  • Orderly: support post for matriculates, with a long-race screening and a matric-level paper.
  • Barber Grade-III: for matriculates who also hold a three-month Barber trade certificate from an NSDC-accredited institute.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Domicile: You must hold a valid Domicile Certificate of the Union Territory of Ladakh issued by the competent authority.
  • Reservation: The roster places all posts under Scheduled Tribe (ST), with nil posts for UR, SC, ALC and EWS. Your category certificate must be issued on or before the last date of the online form.
  • Ex-Agniveers: A 20% horizontal reservation applies for Ex-Agniveers who meet the educational, physical and medical standards. The 4% Outstanding Sportspersons quota is not applied in this round because there are too few posts.
  • Posting: Once appointed, you can be posted anywhere in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
  • Training cost: If you resign within the prescribed period, you may have to refund training expenses and pay as per the rules.
  • Government employees: In-service candidates must attach a No Objection Certificate from their Head of Department with the application, or the candidature may be rejected.
  • Before appointment: Selected candidates go through a medical board examination, character and antecedent verification, and checks of all certificates with the issuing authorities. Any appointment stays provisional until these checks are complete.
  • Name and birth date: Write both exactly as in your matriculation certificate; a mismatch at document verification cancels your candidature.
  • Tie in marks: The older candidate ranks higher, then names are ordered alphabetically.
  • Costs and duplicates: You attend all tests at your own expense, and only one application per candidate is allowed.

Application Submission Notes

Apply online through the Ladakh Police website (police.ladakh.gov.in). You can log in with your registered mobile number and edit the form until the last date, but your Date of Birth and Category cannot be changed after submission.

  • Exam centre: Pick Leh or Kargil in the form; the centre cannot be changed once the application window closes.
  • Photograph: Upload a colour JPG up to 500 KB, white background, not older than three months, about 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, without cap or spectacles.
  • Printout: Keep a printout or PDF of the submitted form, as the board may ask for it later.
  • Admit cards: Admit cards for every stage can be downloaded only from the Ladakh Police website; the PST/PET schedule and venue reach you through them.
