Asansol-Durgapur Police Driver Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Office of the Commissioner of Police, Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate under West Bengal Police is hiring temporary Drivers on a contract basis. The posts were sanctioned by the state's Home & Hill Affairs Department in a Government Order dated 30 September 2026, and you will drive vehicles for the commissionerate in the Paschim Bardhaman area. This is a one-year contract, not a regular police job, so it suits experienced four-wheeler drivers who want steady government work close to home.

The bar on schooling is low, so your licence and your driving record matter most. Drivers who have already driven for a government office, a quasi-government body or a registered private limited company get preference, and the office is free to shortlist on that basis when applications pile up.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Domicile: You must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of West Bengal. Residents of the Paschim Bardhaman area are preferred.
  • Contract term: The engagement runs for one year from the date you sign the contract. Renewal depends on satisfactory performance.
  • No absorption: Contractual drivers can never be absorbed into, or claim a place in, the regular government establishment, and no claim for regularisation will be entertained later.
  • Pay deductions: The consolidated monthly pay is subject to the usual statutory deductions under government norms.
  • Shortlisting: If there are many applicants, the office can shortlist using educational qualification and driving experience before calling anyone for the test.
  • Character check: Selected drivers must give a Police Clearance Certificate or go through antecedent verification at the time of joining.
  • Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the driving test and interview.
  • Canvassing: Any attempt to influence the selection leads to disqualification, and the authority can cancel the whole process at any stage.

Application Submission Notes

Download the notice and the application form from the West Bengal Police website and print the form on white A4 paper. Fill it in English using block letters, and paste a self-attested passport-size photo (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) at the top right.

Incomplete forms without the required documents are rejected.

The notice does not print a fixed closing date. It says applications must reach the office within 14 days of the notice being published on the website, and nothing is accepted after that.
