These posts are reserved for retired Navy, Coast Guard, and BSF (Water Wing) officers/staff and re-recruitment candidates of CSP. Karnataka State Police (KSP) Coastal Security Police Recruitment 2026 - 30 Posts
Karnataka State Police (KSP), under the Coastal Security Scheme Phase-I of the Ministry of Home Affairs, has released a recruitment notification for 30 vacant technical posts across five different roles to operate boats sanctioned for Coastal Security Police Stations in Karnataka. The appointment is purely on a contract basis for 5 years or until age 60, whichever is earliest. Retired Navy/Coast Guard/BSF (Water Wing) personnel and re-recruitment candidates can apply.

- Engine Driver (Head Constable grade): 12 posts — Salary Rs. 28,750/month
- Assistant Boat Captain (Assistant Sub Inspector grade): 10 posts — Salary Rs. 31,050/month
- Khalasi (Police Constable grade): 4 posts — Salary Rs. 26,450/month
- Boat Captain (Police Sub Inspector grade): 2 posts — Salary Rs. 39,100/month
- Motor Launch Mechanic (Assistant Sub Inspector grade): 2 posts — Salary Rs. 31,050/month
Who Can Apply?
This recruitment is open only to retired personnel from Navy, Coast Guard, BSF (Water Wing), or re-recruitment candidates of CSP Karnataka. Common requirements for all posts:
- Education: Matriculation (10th pass) from a recognised board
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of Marine Experience
Boat Captain (Police Sub Inspector grade)
- Navy: Petty Officer (preferably RP sailors from Seaman branch) and above
- Coast Guard: P/NvK from Seaman branch (preferably RP sailors) and above
- BSF: HC and above rank OR First Class Master Certificate (Mercantile Marine / IWT Act 1917)
- Re-recruitment: 1 year as Boat Captain OR 5 years as Assistant Boat Captain/MLM with second class Serang certificate
Assistant Boat Captain (Assistant Sub Inspector grade)
- Navy: LS and above (preferably Seaman branch)
- Coast Guard: U/Nvk (GD) and above (preferably Seaman branch)
- BSF: HC and above OR Second Class Master Certificate
- Re-recruitment: 1 year as Assistant Boat Captain OR 5 years as Engine Driver / 10 years as Khalasi with second class Serang certificate
Motor Launch Mechanic (Assistant Sub Inspector grade)
- Navy: LME/LEMP/LEMR and above
- Coast Guard: U/Nvk (ME/P/R) and above
- BSF: HC and above OR Second Class Engine Driver Certificate OR 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Marine/Electrical/Electronic
- Re-recruitment: 1 year as MLM OR 5 years as Engine Driver with second class certificate
Engine Driver (Head Constable grade)
- Navy: ME-I/EMP-I/EMR-I and above
- Coast Guard: Navik (ME/P/R) and above
- BSF: Second Class Engine Driver Certificate OR ITI in Motor Mechanic/Machinist/Welder/Carpentry/Electrician/Fitter/AC Tech/Electronics/Plumbing/Painting
- Re-recruitment: 1 year as Engine Driver OR 5 years as Khalasi with second class Engine Driver certificate
Khalasi (Police Constable grade)
- Navy: Sailor from any branch and any rank
- Coast Guard: Navik from any branch, Enrolled Followers, any rank
- BSF: Any rank
- Re-recruitment: 1 year as Khalasi
Age Limit
- Maximum age limit: 58 years
- Contract runs for 5 years or until the candidate reaches age 60, whichever is earliest
Salary
The consolidated monthly salary by post:
- Boat Captain (PSI grade): Rs. 39,100 per month
- Assistant Boat Captain (ASI grade): Rs. 31,050 per month
- Motor Launch Mechanic (ASI grade): Rs. 31,050 per month
- Engine Driver (HC grade): Rs. 28,750 per month
- Khalasi (PC grade): Rs. 26,450 per month
These are consolidated salaries — no additional allowances are payable.
Selection Process
Selection is done in the following stages:
- Application Screening: The Special Recruitment Committee for Technical Posts will scrutinise applications.
- Interview: Eligible candidates will be called for interview. Date and place will be intimated separately.
- Document Verification: Original discharge certificate, pension order, educational certificates and other documents will be verified.
There is no written exam. Selection is purely based on interview by the Special Recruitment Committee.

Responsibilities
- Operate and navigate coastal security patrol boats along the Karnataka coastline
- Maintain marine engines, mechanical systems, and engine driver duties on board
- Support boat captains in navigation, mooring, and rescue operations
- Conduct routine patrolling and surveillance of designated coastal waters
- Respond to emergency situations, search and rescue, and anti-smuggling operations
- Maintain log books, fuel records, and equipment inventory of the boat
- Follow Coastal Security Scheme guidelines and Police Department protocols
- Coordinate with Indian Coast Guard, Navy, and other agencies during joint operations
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Matriculation (10th pass) from a recognised board + minimum 5 years of Marine Experience (retired Navy/Coast Guard/BSF Water Wing personnel)
Preferred Qualification
Service certificates such as First/Second Class Master Certificate, Second Class Engine Driver Certificate, Serang Certificate, or 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Marine/Electrical/Electronics; ITI in Motor Mechanic/Welder/Fitter/Electrician etc.
