Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) Assistant Professor in Statistics Recruitment 2026

Kerala Public Service Commission has released Category No. 062/2026, which is the Sixth NCA (Non-availability Certificate Adjustment) Notification for the post of Assistant Professor in Statistics in Kerala Collegiate Education. This single vacancy has been reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates since a ranked list was first published on 10 July 2006 (original Gazette dated 17 February 2004, Category No. 29/2004), but it has stayed unfilled through five earlier NCA notifications due to a shortage of qualified SC candidates:

  • First NCA — Category No. 147/2007 (Gazette: 30/04/2007)
  • Second NCA — Category No. 287/2008 (Gazette: 13/08/2008)
  • Third NCA — Category No. 496/2009 (Gazette: 31/12/2009)
  • Fourth NCA — Category No. 012/2023 (Gazette: 15/03/2023)
  • Fifth NCA — Category No. 644/2024 (Gazette: 31/12/2024)

Only candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) community can apply; applications from Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates will be considered only in the absence of SC candidates. Applications from candidates of any other community will be summarily rejected without individual notice. This is a good opportunity for SC candidates in Statistics who have been waiting for this specific reserved post to open up again.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Master's Degree in Statistics with not less than 50% marks (or equivalent), along with a good academic record.
  • Test Requirement: Must have passed a Comprehensive Test (such as UGC NET/SET) in Statistics, conducted by UGC or an agency set up by the State Government for this purpose.
  • Note: Candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Statistics are exempt from passing NET. When qualifications are equal, preference is given to candidates with adequate knowledge of Malayalam.
  • Community: Open only to Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates; Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates are considered only if no SC candidates are available.
  • Weightage Marks: Extra marks are given for non-qualifying higher degrees — 2 marks for M.Phil, 4 marks for Ph.D, 5 marks if you hold both M.Phil and Ph.D (non-qualifying), and 2 marks for a Post Doctoral Fellowship.
  • Note: Only degrees awarded by UGC-recognized universities, or institutions established through an Act of Parliament or the State Legislative Assembly, are accepted for this post.

Age Limit

  • You should be born between 2 January 1976 and 1 January 2004 (both dates included) — this means you should be between 22 and 50 years old.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary as per the UGC Scale applicable to Assistant Professors in Kerala Collegiate Education.
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of Kerala rules.

Application Fee

  • All Candidates: No application fee is required for this post.

Selection Process

The selection for this post involves the following stages:

  1. Written/OMR/Online Test (if conducted): You must confirm through your One Time Registration profile that you will write the test. Admission tickets are released only to candidates who confirm, and only in the last 15 days before the test.
  2. Weightage & Ranking: Extra marks for non-qualifying M.Phil/Ph.D/Post Doctoral Fellowship (claimed in your application before the last date) are added while preparing the ranked list.
  3. Document Verification: You must produce original documents proving your qualification, experience, age and community when the Commission calls for them.

Once appointed, you will be on probation for 2 years within a continuous period of 3 years. If your caste/community in the application differs from your SSLC book, you must produce a Gazette notification along with a Community Certificate at verification. Applications with false claims about qualification or experience can lead to disqualification or debarment under Rule 22 of KPSC's Rules of Procedure, so make sure your details and claimed degrees are accurate.
