Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is hiring 560 Surveyors (Bhoomapaka) for the Survey Settlement and Land Records Department, Government of Karnataka. Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) Surveyor Recruitment 2026 - 560 Posts
The Survey Settlement and Land Records Department, Government of Karnataka, has released a notification to fill 560 Surveyor (Bhoomapaka) posts under the Group-C cadre, and the recruitment process is being conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). This is one of the biggest technical recruitment drives in the department in recent years, with vacancies spread across General Merit and all reserved categories. Only online applications will be accepted - no offline or postal applications are allowed. Candidates with an engineering background, a science/maths degree, or a diploma in civil engineering can all apply for this post.
Vacancy Breakdown by Category
Out of the 560 total posts, vacancies are distributed across reservation categories as follows:
- General Merit (GM): 280 posts
- Category 2A: 84 posts
- Scheduled Caste (SC) - Category A/B/C: 30 + 29 + 25 = 84 posts
- Category 3B: 28 posts
- Category 1: 23 posts
- Category 2B: 22 posts
- Category 3A: 22 posts
- Scheduled Tribe (ST): 17 posts
Within these 560 posts, 186 are reserved for women, 140 for rural candidates, 56 for ex-servicemen, 30 for persons with disabilities (PwBD), and 7 for third gender candidates. Rural candidates who studied classes 1 to 10 entirely in a notified rural area get a special rural reservation, and candidates educated in Kannada medium up to SSLC get a Kannada-medium quota within these numbers.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification (Option A): An Engineering degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification) from a recognized university.
- Qualification (Option B): A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or Agriculture (B.Sc) from a recognized university.
- Qualification (Option C): A Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related technical branch recognized by AICTE.
- Kannada Language: If you have not studied Kannada as a first or second language up to SSLC (10th) level, you must clear a separate qualifying Kannada Language Test.
- Candidates not meeting the above qualifications and later found ineligible during document verification will not be considered, and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
Age Limit
- You should be at least 18 years old as on the last date of the online application.
- Maximum age limit is 40 years for General Merit and other unreserved category candidates.
- Age Relaxation: Category 2A/2B/3A/3B candidates can apply up to 43 years; SC/ST/Category-1 candidates can apply up to 45 years.
- Additional relaxation is available for serving government employees, ex-servicemen, NCC unit instructors, gram panchayat surveyors under government-sponsored rural survey schemes, and widows/retrenched employees, as per Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 37,500 to Rs. 76,100 per month under the 2024 revised Karnataka state pay scale.
- You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Karnataka government rules.

Selection Process
The selection will be done in the following stages:
- Written Exam (Offline-OMR Type): Paper I (General Knowledge) has 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours. Paper II (Specific Paper covering Mathematics, Physics and related subjects) has 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours. You need a minimum of 35% marks to qualify.
- Kannada Language Test (if applicable): A qualifying test of 150 marks for candidates who have not studied Kannada up to SSLC level. You need at least 50 marks to qualify; these marks are not counted towards your final merit.
- Document Verification: You must bring your admit card along with a valid photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Passport/Driving Licence/Government ID) to the exam centre.

Responsibilities
- Conduct land surveys and measurements as per government norms
- Maintain and update land records, maps and boundary documents
- Verify property boundaries during survey and settlement operations
- Prepare survey sketches, village maps and revenue records
- Assist in resolving land boundary disputes using survey data
- Use surveying instruments and technology for accurate measurements
- Submit survey reports to senior officers of the Land Records Department
- Coordinate with revenue officials during field inspections

Exam Pattern
The written exam has two papers. Paper I (General Knowledge) has 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours, held on 4 October 2026. Paper II (Specific Paper) also has 100 questions for 100 marks in 2 hours, held on 3 October 2026, based on the syllabus notified for the Surveyor post.
Subject-wise Breakdown (Paper II - Specific Paper)
- Mathematics: 40% weightage (Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry)
- Physics: 10% weightage (Magnetism, Electricity)
- Other subjects: as per the detailed syllabus notified by KEA
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer. If you mark more than one answer for a question, 0.25 marks will be deducted for that question too.
Qualifying Marks: You need a minimum of 35% marks in the competitive exam to be eligible for the selection process.
