About This Job
The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has released Advertisement No. 05/2026 dated 18 March 2026 for the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services (Backlog) Competitive Examination 2025. A total of 45 backlog vacancies will be filled across three prestigious state services. You can apply online through the JPSC website between 21 March 2026 and 06 April 2026. The selected candidates will earn a basic pay of Rs. 9,300-34,800 with Grade Pay Rs. 5,400.
JPSC Combined Civil Services Backlog 2025 - 45 Posts

The exam is conducted under The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination Rules, 2021 (as amended). - Jharkhand Education Service Class-2 (School Education & Literacy Dept.): 07 posts (UR-03, SC-01, ST-01, BC-II-02)
Total: 45 posts. The number of vacancies can increase or decrease as per need.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must hold a Bachelor's degree from any university incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or from an equivalent recognised institution.
- Nationality: Indian citizen.
- Domicile: Only permanent residents of Jharkhand are eligible for reservation benefits.
- Attempts: No limit on number of attempts, as long as you meet other eligibility conditions.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years (as on 01.08.2026)
- Maximum age reference date: 01.08.2022
- EBC-I / BC-II (Male): up to 37 years
- EBC-I / BC-II (Female): up to 38 years
- SC / ST (Male & Female): up to 40 years
- PwBD: 10 years extra relaxation in their category
- Ex-Servicemen: 5 years relaxation in their category
- Jharkhand Govt. employees with at least 3 years of regular service get 5 years relaxation

- Deputy Collector: Rs. 9,300 - 34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 5,400

- Jharkhand Education Service Class-2: Rs. 9,300 - 34,800 + Grade Pay Rs. 5,400
- Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Jharkhand Govt. rules.

Selection Process
- Preliminary Examination (Objective/MCQ): Two compulsory papers - General Studies Paper-I and Paper-II, each of 200 marks and 2 hours duration. No negative marking. This is only a screening test.
- Main Examination (Written): 6 papers - Paper-I is Language (General Hindi & English, qualifying only, 30 minimum), Papers II-VI count for merit.
- Interview / Personality Test: 100 marks with no minimum qualifying marks. Selection list for interview is prepared at approximately 2.5 times the vacancies.
- Document Verification & Medical Examination.
Minimum qualifying marks in Mains: SC/ST/Females 32%, EBC-I 34%, BC-II 36.5%.

- Pay the application fee online using UPI / Card / Net Banking.
- Click Submit & Lock, then download and print two copies of the filled application.
No document upload is required with the online form. Bring originals at the time of interview.

Responsibilities
- Handle revenue, law-and-order and general administration as a Deputy Collector at sub-division or district level.
- Assist the District Magistrate in executing state government schemes and policies.
- Supervise registration, audit and compliance work of cooperative societies as Assistant Registrar.
- Manage educational administration, inspections and academic planning under Jharkhand Education Service.
- Conduct enquiries, disaster management duties and election-related work as assigned.
- Prepare reports, maintain records and handle public grievances in your jurisdiction.
- Follow all rules of the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services and respective department regulations.

Exam Pattern
The JPSC Combined Civil Services Exam has three stages:
Preliminary Examination
- Paper-I (General Studies-I): 100 objective questions, 200 marks, 2 hours
- Paper-II (General Studies-II - Jharkhand specific): 100 objective questions, 200 marks, 2 hours
- Each question carries 2 marks
- No negative marking
- Questions will be in Hindi and English
- Prelims is only a screening test - marks not counted in final merit
Main Examination
- 6 written papers
- Paper-I (Language): General Hindi & English - qualifying only, minimum 30 marks required
- Papers II to VI: count towards merit
Interview / Personality Test
- Total marks: 100
