JPPO Dumka Fasal Rakshak Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Office of the Junior Plant Protection Officer (JPPO), Dumka, under Jharkhand's Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Co-operative, is hiring Fasal Rakshak (Crop Guard) workers for the plant protection centres in every block of Dumka district. The posts come under the state's Crop Protection Programme for 2026-27, and the aim is to carry pest control and plant protection work right down to the village level.

This is an honorarium-based, temporary engagement — not a regular government post. It suits a Class 10 pass candidate from a Dumka block who has already done a short agriculture or horticulture training course, can ride a bicycle and is comfortable climbing trees.

Posts and Disciplines

There is one Crop Guard seat at each plant protection centre, and each seat is reserved for residents of a particular block:

  • Dumka, Saraiyahat, Ramgarh, Jama, Masliya, Shikaripara, Kathikund, Gopikandar and Raneshwar centres: only local residents of the block of the same name can apply.
  • Jarmundi centre: open to residents of Jarmundi block.
  • Nonihat centre: also reserved for Jarmundi block residents, so people from Jarmundi have two centres to choose from.

The category-wise split follows the model reservation roster for Dumka district.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Block residency: You must be a local resident of the block whose centre you apply for, backed by a valid residence certificate from a competent authority.
  • Tenure: The engagement runs for 11 months or until a regular appointment is made, whichever comes first.
  • No regularisation: The post gives no claim to a future regular job, confirmation or the service benefits of regular government staff.
  • Training certificates: Only certificates issued by the Directorate of Agriculture, Directorate of Horticulture, Birsa Agricultural University's Krishi Vigyan Kendras or the ATMA office are accepted.
  • Practical check: The selection committee may hold a practical test of cycling and tree climbing after the provisional merit list is ready.
  • Higher degrees: A postgraduate degree earns no extra merit marks, and a second degree at the same level is not counted.
  • Centre allotment: Centres are allotted using the block on your residence certificate and the preferences in your form; the JPPO can change your workplace later for administrative reasons.
  • Joining: If you do not join within the given time, your selection lapses and the seat goes to the waiting list.
  • Termination: The engagement can end early if a regular appointment is made, the sanctioned post is abolished, or false documents come to light.
